Chocolate - Theobromine, a substance contained in chocolate and cocoa, is poisonous to animals, including your hamster. It diminishes the blood flow to the brain and can cause heart attacks and a variety of other life-threatening problems. An important rule to remember is that the darker the chocolate, the more theobromine it contains:

Milk chocolate - 1-2 mg per gram of chocolate

Dark chocolate - 15-16 mg per gram of chocolate Even a tiny amount of chocolate can kill your hamster.

Symptoms of chocolate ingestion include:
Rapid heartbeat
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Hyperactivity
Seizures
Coma

Sugar or complex carbohydrates contain sugar which higher the diabetes rate.

Baths? Water is sensitive to a hamster's skin. Hamsters groom themselves, and provided by a chinchilla sand bath. Baths will make it worse, leading to fatal colds.
