Sad News On Our New Foster

Well, we took our new foster dog, Norbert to the vet today. I had a feeling he had some problems but I wanted to give him a week or so with us before taking him in. He can't sit, just lay down and stand, he's wobbly and loses it completely on the hard wood floors.
Here's the good news: No neurological problems.
Here's the bad news: He's possibly got hip dysplaysia, has conformity problems in the elbows and one knee and wrists. The vet thinks he was severely beaten at one time which may be where the knee injury comes from. He's most likely a little retarded from being beaten, also. He's got bilateral yeast infections which is probably allergy related, but may clear up. His hearing and balance may also improve if this clears up. He also thinks he's very likely to have seperation anxiety. Luckily we have 3 other dogs so he's not displaying this yet.
We're going to wait and see how he's doing in a month or so.....

    Oh Cheshirecat....

Thank You for fostering this poor sole....
Maybe your love and attention can help some of the scars heal...both physical and mental.....
That would help him to find a forever home.....
Good Luck and God Bless You for all your efforts

    Fingers crossed he gets better

He's actually doing very well....thank you for asking!

He's put on about 10 lbs and is starting to fill out. He's still eats like a Hoover, but that's normal. His ears have cleaned up very well and he goes back to the vet on the 15th to have then re-checked, but I think they're all better. He seems to have put on some muscle tone and I think that's "firming" things up joint wise. He's learned to ring the bells to go outside and hasn't had an accident it in the house in weeks.

Crate traning on the other hand..... Hehe. He's stopped barking completely when he's in there and hasn't woken us up in about 5 days, but getting him into the crate is another story. He turns into a 90 lb wet noodle. LOL We're using treats to get him more willing to go in there, so it's coming along.

Try spreading peanut butter or cheese spread on the back wall and leaving the crate door open. He may get the idea that going in there isn't so bad. Or you may end up with all your dogs in there!!!
