The big dummy ate a cat toy!. It was small and soft, so the vet's office thinks it will pass, but that doesn't help with the worrying. After all, we are going into the weekend, and you know bad things always happen on the weekend.![]()

Sterling! Don't you know that those furry things are to play with, not to eat????![]()
Is there something that perhaps you can give him to help it through?? I wouldn't want him to be in pain when trying to pass it. Yuck!

Jen, I'm so sorry to hear this. I sure hope the toy will pass without any problems. All fingers and paws are crossed here. Good luck and please keep us posted.
Oh yuck, hopefully it will pass! Bad things always do happen on the weekends, but that's what emergency clinics are for so don't get too worried, ok![]()

Jen, how big is the toy? If you're in doubt, call the vet and ask if there's something you can give him! If it's any help, here's some pictures of a cats anatomy - the question is, how wide can it open?

I hope it will pass and all get back to normal!
Fingers and paws crossed here for him!! Keep us posted, please!

Oh, dear! I would be worried too Jen. It is not exactly the same I know, but when my dog has eats stuff he shouldn`t (and boy has he eaten some weird things!) I worry myself silly, and I think I would worry even more if it were Ebby. Good thing is that the vets office think it pass though ok, and they should know right?
Good luck, figers and paws crossed!

How about giving him that hairball remedy stuff they lick. We have one called Petromalt. If it helps ease out hairballs maybe toys too! Food with lots of fiber.Poor , poor Sterling.![]()
So far so good, although I am still worrying. He ate last night and he ate this morning ( the vet said look these signs: Not eating, Not pooping, Vomitting, or Diarrhea) And, unfortunately the only way to look for the other signs is to seperate him from the others, and I feel like a "jailer". But I HAVE to know.
This toy was about the size of a hard candy (peppermint) wrapped in cellophane. But it was catnip wrapped in fabric. I was afraid it was too small (it was a gift) and I was just about to take it away when I blinked and it was gone. And Sterling had it last. And he's eaten tails off of fur mice before, too.
I am trying hairball treats, that is what I have available. I'll get the stuff in the tube when I go out today.
The BEST thing is that our emergency vet clinic is ONE minute from my house.if need be.
Well, keep wishing us luck
.
well, I would check with the vet first, but mineral oil was the advice I was given once, when a cat of mine had very, very hard stools, and it worked. It sorta coated the stool and made it much easier to pass. Like I said, check with you Vet. This is not advice.
Also, can you be really sure he ate it? I did watch Miley eat (with a great deal of vigor, I must admit) a wad of yarn.....maybe the size of a medium sized button and I am sure she will pass it someday soon. I am not worried as it was a wad as opposed to a length of yarn..... I saw her with it and she ran, jumped on top of a door where I could not reach her, and then swallowed it!
My guess is that Sterling will pass it easily, but I would give him some hairball goopie stuff for sure.
Keep us posted!
I think we would die if we really knew what our pets ate that we don't see happen. Wonder what that is all about? Well, even kids do it.....hehehehehehehe....![]()
Hayley ate the cord off one of her toys about a month ago. I know how you feel. She passed it fine, and hopefully Sterling will as well. Try not to worry to much. Please keep us posted.

You know they have warnings on toys for kids - 'not recommended for children under 3 years of age.' Of course there could never be such a warning for kitties because they are ALL children in fur coats. I certainly hope that everything comes out all right. I have found many scary things in the litterbox that have made their way through.I'm glad I didn't know ahead of time that they had been swallowed. Fingers crossed here for Sterling!
Any poop yet![]()
I'm sure it'll pass, it's not very big. A bit of oil and Hairball Control will do it!
Good luck! Keep us posted!![]()

I was wondering the same thing. Since I'm coming to this a little late, I was hoping for a post saying it came out and everything's fine.Originally posted by Randi

Still don't know. He did poop during the day. It was a good amount but it was somewhat soft. Does that constitute diarrhea or is it just because I gave him the canned food?
Now tonight he ate, but not all, does that mean decreased appetite? And he did throw up a very tiny bit of his food. Should I worry? He acts fine. Must wait until morning for next evaluation. I hate this.......not knowing what to do.
.
Jen, our cats' poops tend to be softer when they eat more canned food, so that might be normal 'output' rather than diarrhoea.
I don't know about the appetite and throwing up. If he is normally a healthy eater, maybe the toy is obstructing his digestive processes???
How is he doing today? I hope he's feeling better.
