    how much is too much

i'm a little concerned with the amount of treats you should feed your dog a day. i always do a few minute training session where the cookie is involved but sometimes we do those sessions twice a day. how much treats are too much? i don't want him to be overweight i always use one cookie (MarroBone from Pedigree) that i cut up into little pieces. so let's say, two cookies a day. is it too much? thanks!

Is there suchs thing as too many cookies?!?! Simba says no way! Normally on a dog snack package it says how many you should put into your dog's diet.. I think with milk bones it's like 8 mones a day? So no i don't think you're feeding him too many. You can buy training treets [little snacks that come cut up] We always break Simba's milkbone apart for little treats/"trick treats"

For training (walking on the leash, laying down, sitting, pottying outside) my dogs get the little bitz (I think that's what they're called) They sell them at Petco, they're yellow, red and brown, and about the size of a piece of dog food. The bag is purple--I found them at our local pet store much cheaper, and in larger bulk, but that's what they are.
We also have a bunch of other treats for them, milk bones, T Bonz, and a whole bunch of other stuff, but those are for their kongs, or when they need medicine or sometimes just for fun. I don't want my dogs to get fat either, but read the box or bag, it will tell you a recommended amount.

I'm sure Abbey and Kito agree with Simba though--never too many cookies!!!!!!!

When I am training I use their dog food! I take the portion that is rationed and then hand feed them as they do their training. That way they are not getting too much extra.

If it is something a bit more demanding in training, I use a moist dog food (Natural Balance by Dick Van Patton) cut into tiny chunks.
