Graemer is headed into surgery :(

It is not looking good at all. They discovered something wrong with his lungs and removed fluid from his chest. I was referred to a speciality group this time. There is nothing wrong with his heart, thank goodness. It is not what Gabe had at all.

Anyway, nobody wanted to give me a positive bend to the outcome, although some cats have pulled through this.... He is being treated for Pyothorax...whatever that is. I haven't taken the time just yet, to check it out on the internet.

I have good vibes about the vet and know that Graemer is a wonderful patient, cat wise, and has no problems with staying at the Vet.

I hope the outcome is a good one. I just cannot believe this is happening. Life does take some odd turns, for sure.

Grammy Crackers needs some pretty solid positive thoughts, prayers and vibes coming his way.

Needless to say, the tears, they are a-flowing!

    Love,
    SAS

    P. S. Here is a link to what is wrong with Graemer.....doesn't sound good to me, but hey, I have to try. He has nothing else wrong with him that I know of. I think we will need luck on our sides!

Oh dear, Grammy Crackers, I'll be keeping you in my prayers. No fun being sick, and your poor mom's heart must be sore from all its been through lately.

P.S. Graham crackers always were my favorite!

Oh SAS, I'm stunned by your news. All this is just too much. All the positive energy we have is headed your way. I refuse to accept there will not be a positive outcome. I just read the info you posted and does sound that with Graemer's youth and otherwise good condition and your early detection he will be able to pull through.

SAS - I looked it up.. it's an infection of the pleural space, which is the chest cavity. From what I read, the prognosis is good because Graemer was diagnosed early.

I will pray for you and Graemer. Believe me - I know what it's like to deal with this disease.. it's very similar to what Bassett has, except hers is not an infection, it's chronic.

Prayers are on the way from all of us up here. Please let us know how he's doing.

Oh no Sas, not Graemer also. You've had enough to deal with lately.

We'll keep all fingers and paws crossed here.

    Get well soon, Graemer!

    SAS,

I read the link you provided on this medical problem. A cure
is very possible. I'll certainly keep Graemer and You in my
thoughts & prayers. This seems so unfair to have this happen
so soon after sweet Gabe's untimely death. Please know that
we are thinking about you & Graemer and praying very hard.

I am just stunned!! This is an unbelievable shock to hear about Grammy Crackers being so sick so suddenly and on his way into surgery!! Oh my, Sallyanne you can count on me for prayers and positive thoughts. You must feel like you are walking around in a bad dream and just want to wake up. Please let us know how Graemer is as soon as you know anything. I am now wondering in hindsight if Graemer's initial illness (before Gabe's) might have been the beginning of all of this. Whatever the case, it is not a time for second guessing but just prayers and some good medical treatment. {{{{{hugs to you Sallyanne}}}}} and lots and lots of prayers for Graemer!

    Is there a connection?

You know Pam, I thought there was a connection from the very beginning, somehow. First Graemer was ill, on a Saturday, then the next day Gabe, and went to the vet on Monday, and was put down on Tuesday. Graemer never really popped back from his illness but the Vet examined him and thought it might be a back or soft tissure injury. Cats are so difficult to diagnose without going into xrays, surgery, and lots of blood work. There were no signs that he had chest involvement until this morning. Graemer was experiencing labored breathing. Well, it took me 1/2 an hour to get him to the vet. I just don't know how far along his infection is..... Vet #1 took 3 vials of goop out of his chest. Vet #2 is doing the draining of the lungs etc. and exploratory surgery if necessary. If the initial treatments work, we will all be happy. The vet kept saying that if the cat resists treatment, it will not work. Graemer is really a sweet heart and will tolerate just about anything..... Miley is not like that and Gabe, well, he was not tolerant either........ Miley is sharing her living space today, with that little furry dog. They are not best of friends, but certainly are entertaining each other.

By the way, Graemer is not nearly in as much distress as the poor little Gabe was.....so the upset here in the house is not so high, but lots and lots of worry, for sure.

Fingers crossed! Come on Grammy Crackers. The last thing I said to him is that he better get well and come home.....I surely hope he was listening!!

No not Graemer. This can't be.
But abys are tough. I am so glad to hear he cooperates.
We are sending all our most positive thoughts and all our love!

I just read that cats who are treated before they lose weight and are dehydrated usually recover well. But it sounds like a long and stressful treatment.

    We think of you!!
