What a beautiful cat. I thought male calicos were extremely rare and worth a lot of money. I have been told that USC Medical Center in Los Angeles would pay a large sum for a male calico cat.

Hmmph! If they just want him for his DNA, send them a whisker!

I've been finally defrosted by cassiesmom!

Vinnie, when I see your beautiful face I long to seize you (gently) and plant kisses all over your plump little cheeks and a couple between your ears and also to kiss your little pawsies. You inspire me to song:
Vinnie, you are not skinny
You are a plump and pretty boy
Who brings his parents joy
Your fur is long and silky
Your paws are white as milk-y
Your eyes are so divine
You're altogether fine
I wish you lived next door
So I could get to know you more!
Congratulations on being Cat of The Day, you beaautiful thing!
Amen...surely most of us who love our furrbabies never EVER give such a thought like "they might be worth a lot of $$$" air time!Originally posted by smokey the elder

Re Vinnie, I did not mean to sound mercenary. What I meant was when I heard people saying USC Medical Center would pay a lot for a male calico, I thought there were none -- like finding the end of the rainbow. I had a female calico, and I would not have taken anything for her. (She died of old age.) I wouldn't sell my pet, and I hope other pet owners feel the same way.
I missed Vinnie, but I caught this new thread and so I will go back and check him out. But don't sell! I don't know how much they would pay, but, whatever it is, it would not be so valuable as Vinnie's friendship.
No! No! No! And "no" once again!
Now I will go log on and see this rare male calico!
Welcome, Joyce! I too thought that male calicos were sort of like unicorns--very thin on the ground. Hope you have fun with this forum!
