Darling Little Rover!
Dearest Rover, aren't you ever the most darling little thing imaginable! What an adorable young lady you are, just ten months old, cuddled up by your dear Dad Chris as he snoozes. That fluffy black fur is so pretty, and you have the sweetest face with those lovely big green eyes. You're so cute curled up along Dad's neck and shoulder, reaching up to his hair. I bet you're purring away, too! I wish I could reach through the screen and across the sea to London to pet you! I can't, of course, but I know your loving and beloved Purrrents Chris and Sandra will pet you for me
.
And what a terrific story you have to tell! Last year your dear Purrrents-to-be Chris and Sandra went to a shelter to get a cat. They saw this tiny, frightened kitten and knew you were the one! You were so scared when you first arrived at your new home, but with loads of love and excellent care and delicious food, you've settled in just fine! Now you are "a healthily mad cat, who loves jumping on people's faces in the middle of the night, climbing curtains, and tearing up toilet rolls." You're not crazy about their choice of a dog's name for you, but that was Chris's idea. He thought it would be so funny, but you're not laughing! Aside from that, life is good and you all love each other very much, don't you. What a wonderful love-filled home you share!
Congratulations, darling Rover, on being chosen today's Cat of the Day! We hope you and your dear Chris and Sandra and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and love and all your favorite games and treats.

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
