Houdini has an appointment tomorrow morning.....

Well this has been going on for a while, and we haven't been able to cure it, yet. She throws up a lot, probably at least twice a week or more. We have switched her food a few times, but it hasn't helped. Sometimes food comes up and sometimes she just throws up bubbly stuff, If you know what I mean. Anyways, she is going to see an internal specialist tomorrow at 9:30 or 10:30, I forget which time, my bf made the appointment. He also has an appointment for HIS doctor at around the same time for a nasty infection that may claim his toe. It's pretty grose! He's been like this for three years but hasn't done anything about it. He lost the toe after he smashed it, and then it grew back into his foot and got infected, but he hasn't been to the doctors for about a year and hasn't had it treated and now it is yucky!

Anyways, so Houdini is going to see a specialist at her vet, and they are going to do some tests to see why she is vomiting all the time. She may just have a sensitive stomach or maybe allergies. So we may have to switch her to Science Diet Sensitive Stomach or something else depending on what the vet finds out.

So has anyone here dealt with a cat with a sensitive stomach/allergies? I would really like to know your experiences with trying different food etc. and what the outcome was. I am really hoping this is something not more serious! If she has a tumour or something it is very unsafe for her to go under anesthesia because she has a class two heart murmur. It wasn't so bad a few years ago when she was spayed but it has grown slightly worse. She would have to undergo a complete blood pannel again and I don't want her to go through all of that, so please pray for my little girl. And for Dan to not have to get his darn toe amputated, eventhough if he didn't neglect the issue he would be fine right now.

Also, I can't go to the vet with her either! This will be the first time I have not gone to the vet with my pets. Dan is dropping her off, then going to his appointment and then has to go to work, and will pick her up after he gets off work. Although the vet is going to call me and let me know what happens. I'm really worried about her being alone in a srange place for so long and I am worried about Dan too. But I still stay cheery! Fingers crossed!

That would make me a backet case. What kind of pet is Houdini?
How old is she? Have you tried elevating the food dish? And samll meals?

Houdini will be 6 in two days! She is a Bengal cat. I have introduced them here before but don't post pics too much. I should go take a few new ones today, hehe. They have free feed all day, but she doesn't overeat and she's pretty petite and doesn't eat much. But sometimes she will eat a bunch and then throw up. But there is no competition for food.

I will sometimes feed her alone so that she feels more comfortable. She always waits to eat last. I have heard dogs with elevated dishes to prevent gas etc. but never for cats. Maybe I should try it. Thanks for your concern.

Ditto for me as well. Take care. I've had some problems with my cat Pepper in the past. Since I've been giving my cats hairball medicine every other day, they rarely throw up. I also feed them a dry cat food that has rice in it so it's easier for them to digest. All fingers and paws are crossed here. Good luck.

Well they left almost an hour ago. I sure hope they both do ok.

Houdini is currently on a lamb and rice food. However it looks like we are going to switch to either Hairball Maintence of Sensitive Stomach by Science Diet. We do give all the cats Petromalt every day. It's a hairball rememedy. So Dan said he will give me a call at 12 noon.

I think Houdini will be ok but I'm not sure about Dan. His toe is really nasty. Since his grandfather passed away he has stayed away from hospitals. Finally after a whole year of me buggin him he is going!!!! I hope he doesn't lose his toe. Eck! I know he wil have to get his toenail taken out though, and they will probably cut away some of the infected tissue.

This all happened one day at work, when he smashed his toe. It fell out, and took a year to grow back. Only when it grew back it grew into his skin, causing an ingrown toenail which kept digging deeper and deeper.

So please say a little prayer for both my fiance and Houdini!Thanks everyone for your support!

Any news on Houdini's tummy and Dan's toe?

Sorry. I tried to post a reply yesterday but my computer was acting lame.

Houdini is fine and has been switched to Science Diet d/d. Which means she can't have too much more protein treats. *sigh*

We are actually going to switch them all to this food, as we think Mystic and Cheetah have little upset tum tums too.


Dan was prescibed some cephalexan to clear the infection in the toe. The doctor said to use the antibiotics and try to grow out the toenail a little bit. If by Wednesday his toe isn't better they will remove a third of it and then hopefully it will grow back regular. If not they will remove the whole thing. If that doesn't work the will have to kill the nail bed in which case he would never have a toenail again. But the doctor said that is very unlikely. Hopefully this treatment will work.

Houdini threw up again last night. We are switching her gradually and we were told we should see a change within two weeks. Keeping fingers crossed!
