    Thanks for asking Sandy!

I have to tell you that this kitty of mine is driving me up the wall! No, she has not done anything bad, nothing like that, it is just how she blows hot and cold, so to speak. The other day she was wandering about, on my bed etc, letting me stroke her, even offering her belly for rubs, then this last couple of days its been in the hidey hole more of the time and don`t touch. I really do not know why, or even if there is a reason.
For a time today she was back to the wandering and stuff but tonight, although she is out and about, is still frostypaws. Oh, she has been in here and on the landing (nice and warm there) but I can not even go near her, to walk past or anything without her running away! Morning time is when she seems to be at her friendliest, cos I bring her breakfast I suspect.
I do have a theory. I don`t think she is scared or nervous, I think she just wants to do things her way, full stop. I either fit in with it or not, she doesn`t care.

Her and Bob? Not a lot to be said really, she takes a look through the stair railings to see if hes about but they havent come face to face yet. Last night was a bit funny she was looking downstairs and I called Bob ( I have this big box and chair barrier that he won`t cross) and he looked up the stairs and didn`t see me but he did see Ebby, he turned round and went straight in his crate and wouldn`t come back out, made me wonder if he thought I had turned into a cat! She took him by surprise today too, I was sitting at the kitchen table and he was sitting by me, hoping for something to eat I suspect, when we both spotted Ebby sitting on the stairs watching us, he sort of froze, then growled a bit, because she took him by surprise I guess.

Well that is about it. I have to tell you all that I do get very dispirited at times and wonder if I have done the right thing in having her. I so don`t want her to be unhappy here. I would love her to be like most of the other cats that you all have, to be like Olivia. But if how she is, is how she is, thats fine, as long as she is happy. Just wish I knew.

    Your daily routine

Chris, if I were you I would remove all barriers and keep tabs on Bob's where abouts if Ebby is on the prowl. I have found that if there is not out and out war waged, then let things (the furry things) work out their arrangement within the household. I believe (and I could be WRONG) that animals take on all the silly, scaredy cat feelings that we may have about things.... the more relaxed we are, so are the animals. Don't read into too much about Ms. Ebby. It is way too soon to figure this little miss out....and she IS in BOB's house, which by itself, is reason to be nervous and unpredictable. Anyway, keep us posted and relax with these two. It will be fine, I am sure!

    CHRIS H.

Don't worry everything is just fine. Bob is wonderful with the whole
thing. And with cats they end up running things. After all you don'y own a cat, a cat owns you. With a dog itsw a 50/50 thing. dogs wseem to share
    more than cats.

With our 3 cats you never know. 1 day they love you and 1 day they're mad at you. I just go with the flow and takr i day at a time.

Chris....just give things more time. I have hot/cold cats, too...and I think because I have sooo many, it doesn't really get to me. One of them is always hot...so, more time will help.

Welcome to cat "parenthood." You've hit the nail right on the head with that one. It can be frustrating, but I'm sure she'll come around. Sounds like she is just making sure that everyone knows who is queen of the household.

I agree with SAS. Just remove all barriers and let things happen. Sounds like Bob already knows she's queenie, and I wouldn't be surprised if they end up being best of buds.

Just keep up with the patience and things will all sort themselves out. Just be sure and keep notes to fill us in on all the details, and pictures are always welcomed.

Thanks everyone. You have eased my mind and made me feel much more relaxed about how she is.
    sasvermont, you wrote

Ebby has been more relaxed today too, so I think maybe you are right!
Though I don`t think I will take down the barriers yet, just leave them up a little while longer, so they can take the measure of each other a little more. Like just a while earlier, Bob is barking at something, don`t think he knew quite what, only that Simpson next door was giving a warning and what`s good enough for Simpson.... anyway, I digress, Bobs barking away and Ebby is sitting on the stairs watching, then he is sitting looking at her. A couple of minutes ago she was lying quietly on the landing and he was lying quietly at the bottom of the stairs, both aware of each other I am sure. I suppose in some way I am waiting for Ebby, I know Bob pretty well, he is an exhuberant (sp?), boistrous dog, when I let him up here he will rush up like a bull in a china shop! Good or bad thing I don`t know, we will see. I will keep you posted!

I did take a couple of pics this morning of Ebby on my windowsill looking at the birds, but I haven`t looked how they came out yet.

Once again, Thanks to you all, your thoughts and advice are much appreciated(sp?)

    Chris

You've just define Olivia in the past few days....(see my thread in Cat Behavior). I love her, but, I too am eager for her to hurry up and adapt and get along with others. It is frustrating...especially when you are a safe/kind person and want them to see that. It takes time....yucky, hard time....but time.

Girl cats tend to be more like this too....at least, I keep telling myself that.

NoahsMommy, it seems Ebby and Olivia at sort of opposite ends of the "make yourself at home" scene. So, I guess, for both of us, it is going to take a lot of patience as well as, as you wrote......
It takes time....yucky, hard time....but time.
Sandy, thank you so much! You are such a kind and thoughtful lady.

No change on the getting together with Bob front but she is getting into a morning and evening, hmm...outing, for want of a better word! Here are a some pictures.

    On my bedroom windowsill.

Playing with some little bell in a basket toys I got her yesterday.
