    Independence Day Celebration Pawty

We had our Patriotic doggie pawty today. In all 13 doggies were present! And friends new and old had a wonderful time. I hadn't realized until mid pawty, this is really the first time Riley has had so many doggies in her back yard! She was a bit overwhelmed at times (which is not like her) but she would settle once I spoke with her and get her cuddles.

I decorated the back yard, so that no matter where you happened to aim your camera you would have some decor in the shot.

The weather was perfect, 77 F, humidity of 54%, dewpoint of 57, and a slight breeze. All the streamers, wind socks and pinwheels were in motion.

The park bench was ready for photo shoots

And there was a table full of beads, hats and assorted accessories.

The food tables were ready to be filled --

    Centerpiece

-- and everything was about set for folks to arrive!

    More photos to come.

Mary Ellen was here with her 2 bichons, Mattie and Sassy.

Dawn came with her 2 girls, bichon Tinkerbell

    and poochon Wendy

Chris arrive with her 2 schnoodles (miniature schnauzer x poodle), Pebbles (white) and Rocky (black).

Ellen was here with her poochon, McGee

And Donna with her 2 boys, bichon Mickey and Yorkie Peanut.

Add in my 3 and we had 13 pups!

When I walk my dogs around the neighborhood, we regularly see 2 girls, who always come over to visit with my dogs. They and their mom joined us, making for a wonderful group of humans, too.

Red white and blue were the order of the day, and that theme was carried out even in the food - lots of strawberries and blueberries, and this wonderful green salad topped with tomatoes (red), cukes (white) and blueberries.

    Lots more photos to share.

    Rocky

    Tink

Rocky and Tink had a great time playing

    Chris and Mary Ellen

    Sassy and Wendy

Cupcakes and punch (7Up with Coconut gelato and raspberry sorbetto)

Donna found a job, petting Riley! Here, you can see more of the decorations, I had up on the fence far right, and way back at the end of the yard.

    Lots more photos coming.

    Ellen and McGee

    Donna with Mickey and Peanut

Mickey is blind, so Donna put his 'halo' on him as he was in a new place. This protects his head, as rather than bumping his head into tables, chairs, trees, the bumper hits first.

The halo did not bother any of the other dogs as all, they just accepted it as a part of Mickey.

Here is a video, I was attempting to identify each dog.

A few photos from the bench.
Mary Ellen with Mattie and Sassy

    Willy Tasha and Riley

Willy was not fond of the pinwheels headband.

Many of the pups quickly learned they could rid themselves of the head pieces by looking down!

As a surprise to me, when I finished with my 3 and walked away, Willy STAYED PUT. So he ended up in several other photos, lol.

Mickey giving his HuMom the famous head tilt!

    Willy Mickey and Peanut

    Tasha Riley Me and Willy

    More photos coming up!

The girls decided they wanted their photo with Mary Ellen's Mattie and Sassy. Although these 2 dogs are 21 months apart in age, they are true sister in that they have the same mother and father. I think this appealed to the girls.

Mary Ellen introduced her dogs to the girls and got the pups settled. You can see how happy to have a dog in her lap the younger one was!

Mattie checked who was holding her, while Sassy kept an eye on mom as she walked away.

    Four pretty girls

Mattie stayed for some 'quality time' afterwards.

Group shot - Mary Ellen's lap was full with both her dogs!

We had wonderful food as well. Quinoa salad with blueberries, strawberries and orange mandarins, and (in back) roasted chick peas.

Kale salad and a cheese, cracker and grapes platter. Also hamburgers, veggie burgers, beet and potato salad, watermelon and chocolate chip cookies.

The pups also had a special frozen dog treat I made, with yogurt, banana and peanut butter.
I think Tink and Rocky made friends for life!

I've heard from 2 folks that their pups slept for some time afterwards; and my 3 have been sleeping most of the evening. A lovely time, and nice memories.

Thank you for looking at these photos.

    What fun!

Wow - so many great pictures - and it looks like it was so much fun. Maybe Wolfy and I will come visit you for next year's celebration - I'm a good cook and love to decorate too! Okay - just kidding of course - but a nice thought anyway. The Wolf would have a ball - he loves other dogs............and cats and people............just every one and everything.
