To Lop or Not To Lop, *THAT* is the Question!!

    Second day home....

    Today.....

"The ears are falling! The ears are falling!"
They started droopin' yesterday-ish and are about 1/2 down today. She can still raise em all the way up but can't keep 'em up. I was thinkin' they "lopped" earlier than 9wks of age but maybe not...

    *BIG GRIN* A loppie!!

I say to NOT lop. I feel no animal should be altered for mearly a cosmetic reason, spaying/neutering have health and population control benefits.

I think they should look just like Mother Nature intended.

Oh, this *is* how mother nature intended....Zippy-kat didn't do anything to alter her ears! They are just flopping down naturally!

Guess, I misread the subject of the post.

I thought "lop or not lop" was referring to cropping for dogs. I was trying to think why would anyone want to alter a bunnies ears.

zippy-kat, I am sorry that I may have read your intention on the post.

Awwww what a cute "floppy" eared bunny! Guess she's not an "upie" eared bunny afterall! He ears never were *straight* up though. They were kind of diagnol, and are now going down. I never knew floppy eared rabbits don't have floppy ears when babies!

Please note that lopped ears are natural, just sometimes it takes longer for some rabbits ears to lop than other. You can't make a rabbits ears lop, if they lop they lop, if they don't, they don't.

Zippy, in answer to your question. I think I'II let my rabbits decide.

    Bunny says.....
    Definately lop

Cadbury (right) says Not lop and Twinkle (left) isn't sure!

So over here we say, it doesn't matter as we are divided in opinion.

I just knew Miz Sophie had a paw in this. Piper is cute no matter how she decides to wear her ears. I had a dog that was half shepherd and half beagle and her ears did the up down thing. She finally ended up with ears that stood up but the tips lopped over.

Mz. Piper looked at herself in the mirror and said "oh, what lovely ears you have - what does the other side look like?"

    And down the ears went......

And Mz. Piper said, "you should wear them down because they look so beautiful with your eyes."

And Miz Sophie smiled and smiled................
