do you sing to your pets?

I always do. I take music that has no lyrics or change the lyrics to make it have to do with the cats. Sometimes I just sing their names over and over again. My boyfriend was over on the weekend, and I forgot he was sitting in the room and I started singing along with the Simpson's theme song, but made it all about Tilly. I had sung about three words when I suddently remembered, "Hmm.. I'm not alone..." While Tilly just smiled at me, Nathan looked at me and kinda shook his head, like "You are such a weirdo!" It was pretty funny!!!

I sing to Miss Hoppy, just quiet little just-for-her tunes I make up as I go. I don't think she cares what noises I make, as I usually do it when I'm patting her already! Bunnies are sooo quiet - when they want to be! - that they need quiet tunes!

Hmm, around here we sing: "Beautiful Puss-Cat", "You are my sunshine, my fuzzy sunshine", "Fur-cats in the night" .... My fur-kids are the only ones that can stand the sound of my singing, though!
I'm sometimes asked "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer: "I am working at the roots." -George T. Angell, reformer (1823-1909)

I usually make up songs depending on what they are doing at the time too. And the lyrics are usually converted to 'baby talk'. Lately with the holidays, I've been making up words to the tunes of Christmas carols. Earlier today I was singing 'Lolly Bells".

So yeah, I'm really bad, not only do I sing, but I sing in baby talk

OMG! Guilty as charged, and relieved to know that other people act like babbling idiots around their pets! Yes, I change the lyrics to reflect whatever "kitty mood" I'm in. I picked up this habit from my mom, who was always singing and talking to the kitties in the house. It seems like "You Are My Sunshine" is pretty popular, although around my house it's "You Are My Herman, my lovely Herman......"

you are my sunshine is a hit here too. (wonder why so many of us use the same song?) plus, because his name is owen, we sing owie-oh (from the wizard of oz... what the bad guards for the witch sang).

Boo loves my singing! He'll come running in from outside if he's not around. I think he's so confused by it or just fascinated, that he has to see what's creating that noise.

Since Boo makes an easy replacement for "you", my options are limitless. I've converted nearly every song I know to be Boo-able. He seems to love it, and will hang around outside of the shower just to hear me serenade him.

    Love that little guy!!!

Yes I do. They look at each other and say understandingly "Mawmie went nuts".

If Corky Porky kissed ME, I wouldn't cry! I know the first time my husband heard me singing to the cat, he thought I was off my meds - after almost 20 years now, he's used to it, but he still thinks I'm weird ...........

Soledad, my mom's kitty used to come from whatever part of the house he was hiding in, when she would sing to him. Theirs was a love story for the ages; I've never seen such devotion in a kitty before. Also - have you ever posted pix of Boo? I'd like to see the little music lover.....

I LOVEEEEEEEE singing to my kitties!!!!

I made LUCKY his own song too.

This is how it goesyou're supposed to sing "Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun ,dun..." where the....'s are.

    "His name is Lucky Boy...
    Only without the Boy
    His name is Luckyyyyy,
    Now he's not a Ducky.

    He is a Cat......
    Actually a kitten,
Little tiny furballlll sittin on my lap.....

    He wakes up.....
    Before the bright sun does,
Running all around, jumping up and down,
    Always keeps me up
Pick up a shoe, throw it across the room,
wouldn't you know it missed him!

Maybe it's because he's Lucky Boy.....
    Only without the boy,
    His name is Luckyyyyy,
    No he's not a Ducky.

    He is a CAT.....
    Actually a kitten,
    Little tiny furballllll
    Sitting on my lap.....
    Sitttttin onnnn myyyy LAP!

I made this song for the best kitten in the world, my sweet LUCKY. I bottle fed him from a week old. He was brought it to the vet by the Sherrif of Pico Rivera. He had a severe upper respiratory virus, was dehydrated and very thin. You couldn't see his eyes because they were covered with dry puss.

Dr. Gorya said he wouldn't make it but I didn't give up. We gave him fluids and antibiotics and slowly he got better and turned into the most lovable beautiful cat ever. He was actually reincarnated but that's another story..if you want to hear I will tell you. I miss you LUCKY and Mommy thinks of you everyday and every second of her life, wishing you were here with me. You were the best cat ever and I know we will meet again. I love you.

    All the time!! Poor things!

Now that we have Christmas music playing almost 24/7, I am singing (and dancing with them) to them even more!

I ususally make up dumb songs too. Lately, its been to the tune of B-I-N-G-O...hee hee

I always sing to them softly in the car....usually on the way to the vet. Maybe THAT'S why they hate the vet!!
    ...RIP, our sweet Gini...
