    Laundry Room Fright by Oz

We had quite the scare at my house yesterday. I was chewing on my bone, when I heard this awful racket coming from the back of the house. I looked over at Mom, but she didn’t seem to hear it and my doggie buddies, Murph and Maddie didn’t seem to notice either. They must be getting deaf in their old age. I felt it was my duty to alarm my clueless companions to this most distressing situation. “Hey You Guys! Something’s Wrong." I get absolutely no response, so I run up to Mom and yell, “HEY! Don’t ya hear that! Finally Mom takes notice of me and replies, “Oz what’d ya barking at?” I run from her to the door and tell her again, “Something’s dreadfully wrong on the other side of this door.”

After a couple of times of me running to the door and back to Mom, she finally gets my message and gets up from her chair to investigate. She opens the bedroom door and heads towards the kitchen. I’m right behind her, ready to assist however I can, until we enter the kitchen and I hear the deafening racket coming from the laundry room. “Oh MY! What kind of monster could make such a unspeakable sound? No Mom! Please Stop!” But does she listen to me... Noooooo... She keeps heading towards the laundry room. “Don’t go in there. It’s too dangerous, I tell ya!” But still she doesn’t listen to me and continues towards her certain doom. I run back to the bedroom to get reinforcements to save Mom. Much to my amazement, Murph and Maddie are still sleeping. “Murph! Maddie! Wake Up! Don’t you care, Mom’s in danger?”

Murph wakes up and mutters to me, “Kid, give it a rest. Nobody ever died going to the laundry room.”

“You’re not going to help save her? This monster is too fierce for just me alone.”

“Kid, she doesn’t need saving. Now stop bothering me, while I’m sleeping.”

Wary about Murph’s instinct, but too scared to go it alone, I decide to stay in the safety of the bedroom with him and Maddie and pray like crazy that Mom makes it back alive. After a few nail biting minutes, I hear footsteps coming towards the door. “Could she have actually defeated the laundry room monster? Is it too much to hope for?” Just then Mom comes through the door. I pounce on her with tons of doggie kisses, thrilled that she survived, but still vow to myself to give the laundry room a wide berth from now on.

    hiya mugsy!

well that's a lil' too technical for me. I readjusted the clothes
and that stopped all the racket, so if that translates to an
agitator out of alignment, then yep that's what it was.
But don't think there's any chance of convincing Oz of it
    being something so mundane

    hey Cincy's Mom!

weeeeeeeellllllllllll I think you'd have a tough time convincing
Murph of that, since Oz was hiding behind him.

    hola ownerof3dogs!

It's too funny isn't it? These big dogs being afraid of
a laundry room and a basement. And here I've got
2 lil' terriers that aren't afraid of anything. And Oz is
relying on them to protect him.

It really is funny. I agree that littte dogs are tougher than the big ones! but they have to be because they have a size disadvantage
