Photo shoot with models - first attempt

Yesterday was so exciting, as for the very time, I had the guts to work with real people. So far, I was only taking pictures of animals, plants, and landscapes. :-O Now my nephew (well, not my biological nephew, but this would be too complicated to explain; and he's calling my mother "Grandma") and his girlfriend agreed to have a photo shoot with me - and it was so much fun! They love this cool rockabilly look, and they did a great job modelling for me. In two hours, I took 720 pictures, here are twenty of them:

So, what do you think? I know, this is utterly different from what I'm usually doing...

    I like these!

Maybe it's because of the rockabilly look they have - but the black and white pictures are the ones I prefer. It's like the colour ones capture who they are - and the B&W capture them almost as icons, representing something.

    Really interesting!

You have an excellent eye for how to frame pictures. Lighting is good too.

The first three look like they could be album cover shots!

    Thank you, Anne!

Karen, yes, I think they would be cool for a cd cover; especially as he's in fact playing in a band (I took some concert shots of them a while ago)

Candace, that is an interesting thought... Need to think about that, but you could be right...

I love these pictures because they weren't looking right into the camera, it was as tho you were not there. They really came out realistic and lovely. I would say your first shot with models was great.

Thank you! Yes, it was a really relaxed atmosphere, which made it much easier. I think it was a good thing that there were two of them, so they weren't so focussed on me and my camera.

They're great! - the retro look!

Have you ever considered becoming a portrait photographer - weddings, pets, etc. I'll bet you could make a killing at it!

Kirsten you should seriously consider a career in photography/photo-editing. You have such an interesting eye and perspective. Any company would be lucky to have you.

These are stunning. You have so much talent, Kirsten, such an eye and such a gift for composition.

I also think you would do quite well with portraits and weddings.

    God bless.

pomtzu, Alysser and phesina, thanks a lot for saying that. I have to admit, I would very much like to do such things; maybe starting with a few jobs and then saving the money for a better equipment and doing the more progressed stuff... but I would never be able to do this due to my poor health. I just wouldn't be reliable; there are too many days when I feel so bad that I cannot go anywhere. I'm really sad about it, sometimes I think I'm wasting a talent. But that's the way it is...

Maybe you could try with pet photos, for example, and set an appointment, but explain that you may need to reschedule and would call that morning to let them know, and promise a 10% discount if you have to reschedule? Might be a way to get started ...

Well, yes, it might work this way... However, pet photography is really difficult (not with Luna and Lily of course, as they're trained lol).

I interviewed a pet photographer last week, and he said there are two keys to it 1) patience in waiting for the right moment, and 2) having a variety of sounds, toys, etc. to catch and keep the pet's interest!
