    Candy and Bonny

Over here in the UK there is a tv programme called Animal Hospital that has just begun a new series. As the title suggests it is about the work done at one of the hospitals funded by the RSPCA, but also includes a section with their rescue work, whether with dogs such as Candy and Bonny, cats, bunnys all and any pet plus wildlife, on tonights programe the treatment of a swan was featured.
The programme will follow the progress of Candy and Bonny and I will post the updates here as and when if anyone is interested. This is link to the Animal Hospital website in case anyone wants to take a look for themselves and read about tonights programme, including Candy and Bonnys story so far.

I have enlarged the picture so you can see Bonnys thiness more clearly. Hopefully the next time we see her she will be look a lot better.

OMG...I HATE the human race. Candy and Bonnie are gorgeous. I can't make up my mind what breed they are from the pictures. Can you help me out Chris?? I read the story and will continue to check up on them. Thanks for the link.

Mugsy, I so agree with you, when I see stuff like this I am ashamed to be a human when that is what humans can do.
They were so good when they came in the centre, got examined with no sign of protest. Later on in the programme they were shown at the place where they have to stay, not only to get better but also while the case is being investigated, getting weighed again -they had put on a little weight - and then outside on the leash, they were so good and they looked so much happier already.
I am not really sure breed or mixes they are. Candy is the light brown dog and, though you can`t tell by the photo, is a lot smaller than Bonny and also isn`t quite so thin, she has a broadish head that is a bit staffie looking and a thin tail. Bonny, the black dog, looks very like a Dane, but not quite so tall, she is so thin its unbelieveable how she is still alive - the vet said she is an example of the worst types he has seen, and he has seen a lot!

You know when someone says, "What an animal!" All I can think is, "Animals are a lot more humane than some humans I know!" What animal species in this world would do that to another species? They may kill them for food, but no other reason. There are very few species, other than humans, that kill for the pleasure of killing. Nor are there other animal species that torture other species like humans do. So much for the intelligence theory.

I agree, I'm ashamed to say I'm a member of the human race! I'm glad that someone is helping these poor dogs!

    Update on November 7

Both Bonnie and Candy are eating well and have put on weight since they came in a few weeks ago. Bonnie's original weight was 15.25kg. Now she weighs 23.95kg. Candy's weight has increased from 11.75kg to 14.90kg, however neither dog is up to full weight yet and care is continuing.

Thanks Chris!! YEAH!!! I'm so glad to hear that. I liked the picture of the dogs being walked (or walker being walked by them) on the website.

Yes, it is really great to know they are putting on some weight and being cared for. I hope that the programme keeps on updating until we get to see them fully fit and in their forever home(s).

    Thanks for the update!

    and excuse me...

    THIS IS OFF TOPIC -
but on the topic of being ashamed of the human race sometimes...
If you haven't already go check out the film "Bowling For Columbine" it'll really make you think about humans and their reactions (particularily Americans).

    thank you and carry on

Thank you Chris for bringing the plight of these beautiful souls to us. Thanks to their rescuers, vets and caretakers for giving them a chance at life. They are so noble, so forgiving in their suffering; it is heartbreaking. "Bowling for Columbine....??" That insightful film offers a quintessential American, and this is case, a tempting, response to this unconscienable cruelty!!!
