Going outside "issues"

When we are walking Bali(Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) to go outside, he stops at the door, and when we go to pick him up, he runs back inside the house. This has only started in about the last week. Is anyone aware of why he is doing this and what to do to curb this behaviour?

Sounds like something outside has scared him. Try picking him up BEFORE you get to the door. Hopefully, he'll get over it soon!

I have a girl who only wants to go out when she is good and ready. Hence first thing in the morning I have to chase her around the house and absolutely demand that she go outside. With her it is simply an issue of independence, but I know how frustrating it can be.
