    Fair fare Thursday #443.

    On My Dear!

The Kentucky state fair opened this week and they were talking about the Krispy Kreme hamburger- 1500 calories.

How's about a weeks worth of fair fare?

One of the things that I loved about the El Lay county fair was the Ten Pound Buns. They were a giant thick slice of bread with thinly sliced onions and tomatoes with a pizza sauce on it.

That a a nice wine margarita.

    Done!

We went to the Broome County fair last month and we had the yummiest, greasiest cheese fries and LH says if we're going to rot out our teeth how's about some caramel apples and we could have a blooming onion too. Don't for get the corn dogs. Fred and I went to a race once and had deep fried oreos and deep fried twinkies.
RIP Lady, Thursday's won't be the same without you to cuddle with by the fire

What about some Fried Butter. We were at the Iowa State Fair but never did find out where the Fried Butter stand was? Sarah Palin must of eaten all of it while she was there.

Oh yeah - fried dough - steaming hot with butter and sugar. Haven't had that in years. And funnel cakes, popcorn dripping with real better, candy apples, greasy fries - all so yummy and good for you too!

And how the heck do you fry butter?????

How do you deep fry butter?

Take frozen butter, dip it in batter, and deep fry it for a few seconds, just long enough to crisp the batter.

A whole stick of butter on a stick is dipped in a cinnamon honey batter & deep fried for 3 minutes & coated in a sugary glaze for $4. Some say it tastes like cinnamon rolls or french toast.

It was the 100th Anniversary of the Iowa State Fairs life size butter cow sculpture & a tribute to Norma Lyon who sculpted the cow every year for over 60 years. She passed away last month.

I'm sorry, deep fried butter sounds just revolting.

Have you had those fried potatoes where they have really thin spiral sliced potatoes and give you this huge plate of them? Sometimes served with melted cheese sauce on top, but I like them just plain.

My husband worked a State of Md. booth one year at the fair and came home with a "treat"...a deep fried Oreo. Weird.

I can always go for a funnel cake, though!

Those have been around since I was in jr high. We call them Suzy Q's here. Love them. They are way better than plain old fries. I even made them when I was a fry cook.

Have you ever had deep fried Twinkies? I've never indulged, but some folks I know, just love them.

At least I think I could stomach that better than the Krispy Creme donut cheeseburger. Now that sounds revolting and a good way to turn me against cheeseburgers!

Deep fried twinkies are good, but one serves 4 people easily. Filling doesn't begin to describe them.

That fried peanut butter jelly banana sandwich sounds interesting. I would like Jalapeno jelly on mine.
