thanks very much devon. I have been boo'd.
We had these in our yard when I was growing up. Very pretty.
Rose of Sharon is also known as Althea - which is how I knew, 9 years ago, that Althea was meant to be mine. I'd found her, thrown out in a remote, forested area, blinded in one eye, the other stuck shut with infection; she was about 5 weeks old. The name Althea popped into my head out of nowhere - I have no context for it - and when I learned that it's another name for Rose of Sharon - I knew that Althea had been sent specially to me!![]()

Pictures of Rose of Sharons in the East flowerbed and in the patio flowerbed. The one just inside the gate is about full, one in the East is filling in,the bigger one in the East flowerbed has more on the back side than the front, the one near the shed not quite filled in yet.

They are lovely. I had some as well but keep getting suckers all over the place and finally had to dig them out. They have very very deep roots.
I hd forgotten however how lovely they were till I saw your pictures.
