    At last ...

... Bobby has a garden to run round in, only small, but enough.

After three and a half years, and with the encouragement of my neighbours, I have broken the rule of no fencing at the back of my home and had one put up. Whether I get in trouble or not, and despite the fact that meeting the cost means it'll be baked beans on toast for dinner for a while, it is all worth it to see Bobby so happy.

I haven't mentioned it before but he has arthritis in his back legs now and although he can still get about pretty well, long walks are out of the question so having outside space for him to spend some time in has become very important. And once again he will be able to 'help' me with gardening, putting out the rubbish and hanging out the washing.

He doesn't know he's old nor that his legs can't carry him as far as they used to. He still runs around like a two year old and when he sometimes tips over he just gets back up and continues on quite happily. Bless him.

    Hooray for Bobby!

I don't really understand . . . you live in a community, well that's not the word, an association? And they don't permit fences?

Oh Bobby, you are so lucky to have a good mom, what fun you will have running safely around outside.

Chris, I'm sorry to hear Bobby has arthritis in his back legs, but glad it doesn't slow him down too much.

Scritches to Bobby and hugs to you for putting that fence up.

That is wonderful news Chris and Bobby. Does this also mean you can leash-train Ebbs and take her out back as well??

I'm so happy for all of you and of course, this will also be easier on your health. Pictures???

I live in one of the end bungalows of a block of four rented from our county council. There is no access to the rear of the block except for a gate at each end, the council refused permission to separate off my portion ... a pictures worth a thousand words they say, here's two, before and after.

Funnily enough I was thinking about just that earlier. I might just give it a try.
    The happy boy.

It's sad really. He's been running around a lot last evening and earlier today and if you watch him closely in these videos you'll see how it's affected his gait.

btw, just in case anyone is wondering, yes, he is on medication.

Thanks for that photo! Oh I hope they ignore it and if anyone asks, just say it's for an old boy to enjoy his back garden safely and you WILL take it down when you move!

Loved the videos! Aw, yes he is older now, but gosh he is happy isn't he? I can just see the captions in there, "Enough with the camera Mum, THROW MY TOY!!!!" Love his rolling over with it, silly goof, he is playful isn't he!

The second vid let me see how the other end is closed off, he has a good sized area for himself to poke about it, good job you.

Had a chuckle, I think I saw THREE watering cans: red, white, and blue! Colors of the Realm!

Loved the videos. Bobby looks like he loves the freedom of coming
and going out the door without a leash on. He actually looks like he is
    smiling.

Your grass looks so green. Ours here in Indiana has tuned brown and
straw like since we've had little rain this Summer.

I love Bobby! I love the add on of a fence, too!

Chris, have you investigated an arthritis type medication? Maybe something like glucosimine, for Bobby?
