Patch.com and budget cuts...

I got an email from my editor, Marie. She informed me that patch.com is experiencing budget cuts and only 2 editors, one from Tolland the other from Mansfield, have shown an interest in me continuing to write freelance. They said it wasn't cost effective for me to write Shelter Pets of the week, because people can essentially go onto petfinder and find the same thing. To add insult to injury, Marie is leaving patch as of July 6th to take a job at UConn. I wish her well and know she'll do great. I thanked her for giving me the chance to write.

I do want to continue writing Q&A's and interviewing rescue organizations on animal subjects, but need to run it by the other two editors.

My petsitting business is okay, but I expected some of my clients to book vacations by now. I guess it's early yet.

I've inquired about job openings at Pet Supplies Plus. The manager, Beth told me to keep checking back.

This economy sucks.
