    Help With Breed Identification

Alright my sister found our new family member some 3 years ago under some bushes in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Since then "Wally" (go figure) has brought so much to the table around our house and is a great companion/goof ball/gaurd dog.

We know he's a mutt, but we get inquiries all the time with people saying they see all sorts of breeds in him. He's about 100lbs, extremely smart and stubborn as well. He doesn't bark unless theres something outside he senses, and he plays very well and is carefull when you put your hands in his mouth (he'll be gentle when you go to grab the ball from his mouth). He's not agressive with anything towards any other dogs, etc... His favorite hobby is pushing the evil cats around with his muzzle then chasing them around until they find a higher place to sit making poor Walls look like a fool as he sits on his honches and repeatedly barks at them to come play. He will always come save the day if someone were to yell, "you stupid cats!" which happens quite often because the cats are, well... stupid and cause ruckus every 30 minutes.

One breed that sticks out to me while I was scouring the internet plugging in combinations of mastif/bulldog breeds is the Tosa Inu, native to Japan recently becomming more popular in the states.

We just want to get some opinions, not that it would change anything, we love our fine vicious gaurd dog all the same.

On my first look I though boxer/pit bull, but 100 pounds is pretty big for that. I see Rhodesian ridgeback in the last pic but not the other two. Maybe a mastiff/pit bull mix? I know two mastiff mixes that look just like him. One is mastiff/rottie/GSD, the other is mastiff/boxer. Welcome to PT.

    Welcome to Pet Talk

The first thing I thought of was a Mastiff/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix! Maybe some Pitt Bull too..

With that tail set and the line of the back and the ears, muzzle and white spot I'd say he's got some Rhodesian Ridgeback crossed with a little handsomeness. He's got really short legs for his body so I'd guess he has some pit bull in him too.

I'd guess probably Bullmastiff/Pit bull or possibly Bullmastiff/Ridgeback. Whatever he is though, he's gorgeous!

my guess involves mastiff/fila brasileiro but the ears seem more pitbull like, anyway he could have three or four or who knows how many breeds but still be a great dog

this was my first thought as well, I think he for sure has mastiff in him but he has a pitbully look to him as well.

well, you see that color and think tosa, but I am pretty sure he has some bullmastiff, also probably American pit bull terrier.

Hmmm 100lbs? Could be Bullmastiff/Pit Bull or RR/Pit Bull or Presa Canario.
