    disoriented dog, veryy worried!

    hey

So I have a mini pinsher, he's two years old and hes been healthy all his life... today I was in the bathroom and I saw him jump of the bed and land on his side, he then walked past me and banged into the closet and ran the other way and banged into a wall :S he was walking really weirdly, like crouching and his legs seemed stiff. When I went to pick him up he was trembling and had a glazed look over his eyes.. after about 10 minutes he went back to normal and he's sleeping now but im really worried... any ideas of what could it be? some type of seizure maybe?

It does sound like a seizure, some dogs have them. I'd keep a close eye on him, and if it happens again, a trip to the vet is in order, to see if they can figure out any cause for it. If it is epilepsy, it can be controlled with medication for most people and dogs.

Mini Pinschers are great little dogs - though if he's true to his breed, he has no concept that he's little, I bet!

If possible, and he does do it again, try to get it on video so you can show the vet. I doubt you could get to the vet while he's still doing it. This is what I did with my dog and the vet was very glad I had the video.
Luckily, my dog was having petit-mal seizures, so no medicine was necessary. And now since we got our second dog (in November of 2008) she has not had an episode at all.
The vet would want to know how often it is happening. Since Zoee's were not frequent (only about 2 or 3 a year) or very severe we did not have to medicate. Had they become more often or worse, then phenobarbital may have been prescribed.
I hope your pup (my mom had a min pin for 17 1/2 years) is only have petit-mal's and will not need medicine.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!
