I remember that day long ago, just like it was yesterday.

I had been at my vet's office talking to my good friend Gloria about how I longed to adopt a long haired black male cat.

I had just gotten home, when the phone rang.

It was Gloria. "Wasn't I just talking to you?"

"You won't believe what I have here." She said. "A 3 month old, long haired black kitten.....in need of a home"

I thought she was teasing me. I was sure that she was.

But it was true. Another of the vet's clients brought 2 kittens in for their first check up. One was her new pet, but the other needed a home. It seems that the neighbor was just going to take them to the shelter.

I said "I'll be right there!"

And so the love affair began. and for 12 years and 4 short months you were the best kitty anyone could ever ask for.

Tonight, my lap is so very empty and so is my heart.
