    Opinions on .....

Reincanation. With me walking away from my religion a ton of questions have about so many things in life have come up. I really didn't realize how much of my life was wrapped around what I was told to believe and do. So now I have tons of curiosity about so many topics and view points. So I am really want to know. What does that word mean to you? Do you believe in it? If you do please explain why, how and so on. If you don't how come? This is not to start any drama. I am seriously wanting to know. I have no clue where I stand on it.

It is an interesting subject. I would like to think that the good people who lived go on somehow, that their spirit goes on.
And the animals for sure. I have heard some people say they want to come back as a spoiled pampered kitty, all fine and good but bathroom would be an issue and so would the shower. Plus I would hate to be at the mercy of some forgetful or thoughtless home owners who forget to give me fresh water etc....

I think to sort out what you believe in personally, you'd have to read up on various things and see what strikes a chord within your own heart.

In my case I spent many years as an Athiest despite having went to several different Sunday Schools as a child and Summer Bible camps.

As I got older I became more Agnostic and thought maybe there was 'something' in charge, but it was vauge to me.

Then one night I was surfing the radio and happened upon a Christian radio station that was airing a sermon. It struck a chord in my heart in a way nothing else had. I found myself listening to it every night (which for me was WAAAAY out there to do). Eventually I started listening to other sermons on that station, and bought myself a KJV bible to read. Once I deciphered what I believed in my own heart, THEN I went on a church search. Eventually finding a very small, old fashioned Fundamental, Independent Baptist church with a wonderful pastor.

So in my case I don't believe in reincarnation, and never did earlier in life either.

What you're talking about, Monica, is transmigration and not reincarnation but both include coming back in another life. I'm still on the fence about reincarnation but I do believe in life after death so the possibility of life before death isn't too far out there for me.

Nicole, I don't wish to pry and you certainly aren't required to answer this question: what religion did you walk away from? If you'd rather PM me, I understand or not answer at all, that's ok, too. It is rather a personal question but I have noticed that you've started threads on a variety of subjects that have to do w/religion in one form or another.
    Blessings,
    Mary

I believe that every spirit is an energy and energy never dies. I think it either remains an energy or transforms into another form. I know I've had previous lives when I travelled. When I was in England I knew I'd been there before. I knew my way around certain towns as if I'd been there always. I haven't had any pets reincarnated but I know my Hobbes is still around in energy. Calvin sees him all the time. I believe in spirit/energy.
I hope you find the answers you seek. One thing I don't believe in is organized religion. It's an issue of power and I don't think anyone has the right to tell you what you should believe. It's a personal journey. I hope you find your answers and peace.

Thank you for answering. I thought that perhaps it was the Mormon religion or Jehovah's Witnesses. I hope I didn't offend you.

I believe reincarnation is certainly a possibility. I rule nothing out. I think our little human brains are far too puny to ever begin to comprehend the way things really are in the universe.

I think there are a lot of things to learn, know, experience, be and overcome in the world. There is no way to do even a tiny percentage of them in one lifetime. Maybe we keep coming back until we learn what we need to know, or until we get it right.

"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien

Buddhists who believe in re-incarnation think that your deeds in this life, especially the bad ones, but also your wishes keep you on earth. They are the karma that you bring with you when you are re-born.
When you finally manage to let lose all your wishes and hurt nobody (which also includes animals ) you are ready to enter the nirvana and the wheel of re-incarnations will stand still.
So it is a very impressive idea of humanity trying to get better with every life. While I do admire these ideas I find it difficult with my cultural background to really believe in them.

As a Christian, I certainly belive in life after death but not in reincarnation. I would hate to think I'd have to come back an go through all the sad times in my life again and again and again and again.
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!
