I let the pups out first thing this morning, and after going down the steps and walking around for a minute, Myndi started hobbling around, and holding up first one foot, and then another. Of course with her bad knees and arthritis, I thought she had somehow hurt herself. After a brief minute of panic on my part, I realized what was wrong. We had more snow over night, and after my son shoveled the porch and patio off, he sprinkled some ice melt on it. It was burning her feet!!!!. I brought both of them in and washed their feet off with a warm wet cloth - then she was fine. I took the broom and swept the crystals off the porch and patio so they wouldn't walk on it again.
I looked at the jug that it comes in, and it says "safer for pets" - not safe, but safer. What the heck does that mean? It says "does not irritate skin". I think Myndi would beg to differ with that statement.
I know Petsmart has some that is "pet friendly". Has anyone ever used it, and does it do what it's supposed to do?? - melt the ice/snow and not hurt the pet's feet?
