Interesting...although, as was pointed out, switching browsers could expose one to other risks.

I use IE for Windows Updates...that's it. Firefox and Google Chrome are my babies!

Why? I use Firefox, and I get Windows Updates without ever using IE.

I use Firefox too. Your update notifications come from Microsoft. If you want to check for updates, only IE will go to the site and search.

    That's what I meant.

I had no idea! I've often thought I should just delete IE, since I don't use it.

    Thanks!

With XP and earlier WOS IE is part of the OS, I thought with Vista and 7 IE could be completely removed. I never kept vista long enough to try. Im pretty sure I stripped IE off of one of my 7 install disks, if I had a 4th comp Ild try it out.

    Opera FTW!!!

I think I used VLite to strip IE completely from the install disc. Ill try and do an uninstall on my 7 machine and report back.

ETA: 7 lets you disable IE but not remove it. If I cant sleep tonight or get bored tomorrow Ill try and strip it off of the install image.
