    Yuck - Salt!

I'm not complaining about the weather (yet). We in the Toronto area of Canada have done really well so far compared to others. Problem is, we live on a quiet street with no sidewalks that serves as a secondary fire route so the minute there is even a hint of ice or snow the snowplows are out in force spraying cobs of salt all over the road. Louie has enough problems without having salt get into his pads. He has boots but at 5am between my arthritic fingers and his arthritic knees, getting them on him when he is desperate to relieve himself is very challenging. Oh well - I guess it's just a taste of things to come.

If getting the boots on is too difficult in the rush, what about a quite epsom salt in water bath for his feet when he returns in. That will help cleanse them. Shouldn't take much, a small dish basin works fine. Warm water, epsom salts, let him walk through that and towel dry.

I hope others have some ideas for you!

That's a good idea - I have just been wiping them with a wet cloth and they drying them.
