    Maddy's stomach problems again....

I have been a feline owner for well over 15 yrs of my life having a dog is a whole new world for me....I feel like a failing parent....Maddy since I have gotten her has had bouts of loose stools, vomiting and plain just not feel good. For a 1yr old puppy its just not fair.

Well this week she has taken her loose stools up a knotch...This time there was blood in it not like streaks like it was all emusified in it. Talk about scary I took her into the vet she is at a loss. I haven't changed her food the only difference is she spent the weekend at my parents who she totally loves....She would rather stay there since there is no need for a harness or leash. Anyway took her to the vet they put her on the high fiber diet to straighten out her colon and sent lots of stuff out for blood work and other tests. I haven't heard back on any of that yet? After pulling her food etc. This week her stools firm up and she seems to be in better spirts only now this morning she is vomiting and its been all morning??? Visually she doesn't look good at all?? Yet stools have been normal all morning. What do I do? Does anyone have any home remedies that I can give her so she will stop vomiting....I feel aweful for my lil girl. Like I said she has been battling with this for at least 6 months at least once a month if not more?? Is there any sort of condition I can research that might help me with this mystery? I feel so bad for her....And being a fur momma I feel helpless to help her... Anyone have some advice?

I'm sorry to hear Maddy is having so many problems. Hopefully your vet can help get her feeling better. While I have no advice, I will send prayers for Maddy to get better.

That sound similar to what Digi suffers from. Extreamly Sensitive Digestive System caused by allergies to red meats, dairy, & sea food (not including fish).

I make Digi home made food as dog kibble is too risky to feed her.
I cook everything in a pressure cooker as it breaks down all the bones of fish & fowl with ease. I cook all sorts of different fish, and typically feed chicken meat, with some turkey meat, & duck organs (raw).
    All Meat is blended together
All raw organ is blended together
Egg shell + yoke (I get 1-2 daily from a co-worker) blended together
I cook fresh veggies (different kinds) in water & blend it together

I then fill the smallest containers you can get at the bilk barn. 1 with meat with a tiny scoop of raw organ on top & a spoon full of the eggshell ontop. 1 with veggie. 1 with mushy rice (digi needs extra carbs to keep her weight up).

Digi weighs between 25-30lbs (weight is up & down all the time) & she gets 1 container of meat, 1 container of veggie & 1/2 or 1/3 a container of veggie everyday.

She looks MUCH healthier & doesn't get sick randomly anymore. SHe only gets sick if she gets into something shes allergic too.

    Sorry I have been out...

She is doing much better.... I FINALLY got the test results back from the vet she of course had mixed readings again. But to the vet it looked like she had Giardia?? Possibly has had bouts of it on and off since I adopted her. Sunday was so frightening she just kept throwing up and I couldn't get it to stop I finally called the emergency vet on Sunday evening and she told me I could give her a tsp of pepto?? So I did just to make her comfortable. And she did finally stopped puking. Thank GOD! Then on Tuesday we got the results back. Since the tests were not totally conclusive they are gonna treat her and then we are going to feed her a High Fiber food to keep the bulk up in her stool...To possibly stop the bouts of loose stool and vomiting that she seems to keep having in the hopes of weaning her off that food and onto a normal diet. Fingers cross we found the culprit and this will all just go away...Breaks my heart soooooo bad to see her feeling so lousy she just wasn't the happy go lucky little Shih zu that I know and love....So being the overprotective mother that I am I didn't sleep all weekend...I just love that little fuzz nugget soooo much I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have her anymore.... I just wish I could fix it!! So she could run and be wild like she always is!! I am seeing that behavior again so that is soooo good! I am feeling better about it now... Thanks everyone!

    Maddys stomach problems again

Would you discontinue feeding a new food that made your dog throw up? Its hard to say whether the vomit was caused by woofing it down liking it more or upsetting the stomach.
