    my girl is gone...

My 7 year old Squeak (Zoe) died last night at the dr's office. She'd been fighting some unknown illness for over a week. I went and sat with her every day after work. She wouldn't let me hold her until yesterday, she actually crawled into my arms. I got to hold her for an hour and a half before the dr wanted to put a feeding tube in so she wouldn't have liver issues. I started crying because I was so happy to hold her.

At 8pm the phone rang and I knew before I answered it. My vet was so kind.

Today I went through all of my photos and wrote down all the things I remember.

I've had many cats before and I've loved them dearly but my Squeak needed me, she wouldn't go to anyone except me and I think I thrived on that. She followed me everywhere when I moved in the house. She'd lay at my feet on her back and bend her front paws and say Look how cute I am Mom. She slept by my head every night and let me cuddle her.

I don't know how to cope with this right now. I know she is in a better place and she has no pain, I just never imagined her leaving so soon.

I don't know what to do. I don't want her to be gone.

    Hi Kris -

I am sorry this has to be your first post. but we here on PT understand the loss of a pet. And it sounds like Squeak was your heart kitty, as well.

Hold on to those memories, she lives on in your heart and your memories. Looking at the photos was great. Do you have a scanner? Or are they on your computer? Would love to see your dear one.

    RIP Squeak.

Squeak is gone, but she is also still present. She is in your heart forever, and now you have shared her with us as well. I am sure you will see her again one fine day, happy and whole, at The Rainbow Bridge.

This picture is precious. Squeek sounds and looks like a very special cat. I am so sorry for your loss! This is a good forum for you to process your grief. Everyone here can relate as we have all lost pets at some point in time. We all still choose to love our animals for as long as we can knowing that their lives, unfortunately, are usually so much shorter than ours. It is painful but the love we get and get to give makes it all worth it. I'm sure Squeek had a great life with you and that is truly a gift you gave to her.

I'm so sorry you have lost your dear Squeek, she looked like a wonderful companion. The picture of you sleeping together is so precious. I hope that knowing she had a good life with you will ease the pain. It will take some time.

Rest in Peace, Squeek! You wíll be in your mommy's heart forever.

    (((hugs)))
