A call to poison control at 6am...

The cat must have knocked a box of Raid Ant Baits off the counter because when I came downstairs to get Smokey he was happily chewing on 2 of the baits. UH OH!
So I grab them and the torn, soggy box and look for the Caution info. Nothing about if they are ingested, just for skin and eye contact. HARMFUL TO DOMESTIC ANIMALS. Uh oh!

    So I call Poison Control...
I didn't even know if that was the right place to call for a dog, but it was.

Anyway, Kara told me that those particular baits are 80% peanut butter, 10% vegetable oil (or something) and the remaining 10% is the active ingrediant... A variant of which is used when deworming a dog. SO things are OK. I just made him drink water and she said to check for him getting drowsy and if he does to then take him to the vet.

And here I am at work. I'm not really worried, he was acting fine for the rest of the time I was home, but still. He scared his mommy.

Oh my gosh, how horrible. I had to call poison control one time about Tango. In the summer, Tango has this habit of jumping into my bath tub to cool off, he occassionally drinks water droplets even though he always has plenty in his bowl. Well I had put bleach down the drain in the tub to unclog it. About midnight I hear tango in there drinking, I ran so fast, he had bleach breath. My roommate and I are trying to figure out what to do while crying are eyeballs out. Posion control said that bleach was nontoxic, but it would probably make him throw up. I was a scared mommy too.

yeah I bet he DID scare you! I can just imagine! how is the doggie now? just when you start to think pets are so much trouble and worry, then they look at you, and then you wouldn't trade them for anything!
