    Are Cats Jealous?

It looks like we'll be bringing another cat into our house. A female from the same litter as our current female kitty. We're wondering if after the inital getting to know each other period if our original kitty will feel jealous or resent the affection we'll show the new kitty?

They're related, siblings? They'll probably remember each other to some extent- but that won't stop the current cat from being jealous! You have to make sure everyone gets enough individual attention, and try not to let Cat A see you fussing up Cat B or they'll be ticked....I have a Maine Coon who gets VERY jealous if I'm paying attention to anyone else and I have to reassure him.....

YES, they can be. We try too treat all ours the same. BUT every so often one of the kids will want more than another. My Mit's is very jealous of his brother Peak when it comes to me.Precious want sto beon my lap all the time and will his at anyone that dares to come near me. She starts, I put her down, then the lap will fill with Mit's, Demetri, & Lucky, It makes no differance if thier from the same litter. after 6 months everyone is a new face.

Oh my yes, jealousy is amongst my household even though I love them all equally. Tinker, the littlest of the cats has claimed the living room/tv room as hers lately. She will often chase Mamma and Mack out of the room if I call them or try to pay attention to them while she is in the room. Buddy just sits and looks at her if she tries it on him though. He is definitely the alpha cat. I call Tinky my little brat.

Your kitties will adjust like the others said and give them all equal attention and love.

My Lamoni and Fifi were jealous of each other. I would pick them up, one under each arm, bring them together and kiss them. Sometimes I would get bit by both as they tried to get at each other.

Fianlly one day I came home and snuk into the house. The two were on the corner of the bed with their tails entwined. I got a photo of that before they woke up. I had it blown up 8 1/2 by 11. When ever the hissing started I would get out the photo and show it to them. "See! You really like each other. Knock it off!" They are together at the RB these days.

Cocoa is our current and only. She is not jealous of anything
