I have owned fish for 9 years, But I haven't come across this before, This is a red cap oranda, And I have now clue what this growth is, or if its a growth, its white, and it seems like the "cap" has been growing a little bit as well which is weird because I had Britta for 2 years, and this is the first time this has happened.... What is this growth? Is it going to kill my fish?? Is It contagious to my other gold fish in the tank(no others are red caps)?

    Here is some pictures..

As you can see with the pictures the growing part of the cap has become quite uneven, with a lot of white whatecer it is around it???

A lot of times the cap gets white spots as it grows. This is what it looks like to me. No worries unless your water quality is bad.
