Horrible News... This Wasn't Supposed To Happen

Well, the vet just called me. Honda is still at the vet's office. The vet called to tell me that her hip is not arthritis or a torn tendon. She has bone cancer in her pelvis. I totally didn't expect this AT ALL. He says he's 90% sure. It could be a bacterial or fungus infection, but there is no other symptoms to think that. He says she's lucky to see the fourth of july. I just can't believe that. She seems so fine...

He says if we want to be agressive we need to get to Columbus fast. Or we can just be mediocre and just give her pain med and let her live out her life. I think she is too old to be very agressive, so we're just going to do the pain med until that doesn't help and put her down. My poor baby....

Prayers that just maybe it's a wrong diagnosis, and if not, that she can be comfortable on the pain meds.

Awww Miss Honda! I have a soft spot for Dals.. as my first dog Pepper (RB) was one. She died of cancer at age 14.

I hope the pain meds help her.. at least you'll know she is comfortable, even if it is too soon for her to leave.

I've been following Honda's story a bit...and I am SO sorry at this heartbreaking news!

Not that I want her to have any pain - but perhaps an oncologist could at least do a biopsy and confirm what it is or isn't? Is there a vet school that might help you and not cost as much?

Prayers for you and dear Honda!

Thanks for the support guys. So I saw the xrays and her hip bone just looks like a moth went through and ate away at it. There are holes where the cancer is killing the bone and the bone is trying to repair itself. He said after another consult with a vet he is now 95-99 percent sure it is cancer. I asked how long he thinks it's been there and he said he didn't know. He knows for sure not two years ago. He said it could be one or it could be six months.
