    Australian gravy massage

You have to tell your humans about this new eczema treatment my human found! See, I'm still itchy from allergies. While I enjoy my new grain-free food, it's too soon to tell whether it's helping. My human was putting hydrocortisone on my itchies, but then I started shedding big clumps of fur where I didn't even itch, so she wanted to stop putting that on me. So she sent away for something called Emu Oil. She rubs it on all of my exposed skin - the bits that itch, and the bits that are just naked or peachfuzzy. And the best part - she lets me lick some off her fingers too! If your humans ever share "gravy" with you, it's like that, but without all the gunky flour or icky spices. Mmmmmm... She seems to think that quite a bit soaks in right away, but I certainly don't mind washing up after! I do hope it stops my itch and makes my fur grow back... but not too fast, so she keeps giving me Australian gravy massage!

Filou and Tigris say they want meds like that even for URIs and UTIs and whether it works as a renal diet as well
Hope it helps you with your itchies, Smudge

Well! Things have been pretty awful since I last wrote. I got a big abscess in my neck from scratching too much, and had to go trade it in for itchy stitches, a drain, and an awful cone around my head! And the cone scratched my naked skin, too. But my human just kept rubbing the emu oil on me, not just my bald spots, but the stitches and around the drain, and now that the cone is off, the scratched place on my neck too.

So far, so good. My incision healed up very well, and my fur is all growing back. My ouchies are still fading away, and my human still lets me lick plenty of the oil off her fingers in between rubbing. She was glad to have it handy when I had to go to the whitecoats, since it's supposed to be good for postsurgical treatment too.

My diet's still restricted, so my skin's gone all flaky without my 3-V caps. She seems to think that letting me lick the emu oil will help with that too, since it has some of the same ingredients. She's started putting "fiber" in my food again, since I had a tummyache, and hopes that isn't what I was allergic to... I'm a real puzzle, I am. It's really hard to tell what's helping when there's so much going on. But so far it looks like emu oil is at least better then hydrocortisone for keeping me nice and fluffy. What she really wants is to start putting Cosequin in my food again, to protect my urinary tract, but first she has to make sure the fiber is OK and doesn't make me start itching again. And it takes weeks for any effect, good or bad, to show up when it comes to allergies!

So - I don't know what's going on, and neither does she, but I'm feeling much better. Oh, and I get tuna-flavored drops twice a day now! She calls it "amoxicillin" and says that when we run out, I won't get any more, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts. I really do love my human, and she loves me with all her heart, but sometimes I confound the heck out of her brain!

For years, my mommy has used emu oil lotion for her own aches and pains.

Here is a link with some information on the benefits of emu oil and pets, if anyone is interested.
