    Does your cat eat plastic?

Does your cat eat plastic? My siamese, Peter eats does and won't stop. It doesn't matter if it was touching food or not. I try to keep it away from him, but he keeps finding more. It makes him gag, choke, and vomit. I don't know what to do and I can't figure anything out. If you have any tips or suggestions, I'm willing to try just about anything.

No none of my cats eats plastic but my Joey eats lots of bad stuff. I have to pick anything that is bad laying on the floor so my Joey won't eat it. He loves eating toilet paper, i don't know why but he is crazy. One time he eat an elastic band. Now we have to really watch what he is eating.

Hi Shay, Siamese are notorious chewers. Between talking, chewing and sleeping, it's amazing they get anything done All I can say is keep any small or breakable items of plastic away from him (bottle lids, plastic wrap etc) and try distracting him with his favourite toys so he chews them instead.

My Siamese Mini chews books like you wouldn't believe. But he can tell the difference between my own books and the library's books. If it has that special aroma of a well-worn library book, he chews like a maniac! Luckily I've caught him in time and haven't had to explain myself at the library yet

Tibby likes to chew on plastic, but as far as I know she doesn't ingest it. If there is a plastic bag on the floor she will chew on it for a little while, but she won't eat it. Corkscrew LOVES chewing up my sandals. Good thing flip flops are cheap, you'd think I have a dog in the house the way he chews my sandals. Every pair of flip flops I own have bite marks all over them.

Livvy is VERY fond of licking plastic, and will occasionally nip at it but doesn't seem to go beyond that. (Fortunately.)
I'm sometimes asked "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer: "I am working at the roots." -George T. Angell, reformer (1823-1909)

Leonardo is the plastic lover out of my four. He loves the thin bags from shopping or grocery stores best. I try to keep plastic out of his reach and think I'm doing it until he suddenly chucks some up. How he gets it and where I'll never know. I did catch him munching on the wrapper around 4 rolls of toilet paper the other day though. All of them love plastic drinking straws. Never Never Never leave a soda unguarded in this house. If you do, be sure to look before you put the straw in your mouth. It will most likey have cat tooth marks in it. I learned this the hard way.

Storm loves to chew on plastic. He'll sometimes eat it but he mainly just chews on it. Sunny will sometimes chew on the plastic grocery bags but prefers cardboard. I just try to hide small items and bags out of their sight. I also have to keep my napkins up high so Sunny doesn't attack them. Sorry I don't have any advice. Good luck.

Sally loves Plastic. At night when she is in my room, I leave the air conditioning on all night, and then it blows around the plastic and she thinks its alive!! It is funny to watch her running around at 12:00 at night chasing plastic!

My brother has a cat that is obsesssed with plastic bags!! If there is a bag in sight, he will lick & lick it, silly puss! He has even eaten parts of bags before, and I really don't think it is healthy for them (he puked it up afterwards, but still!)

Tiger, my lynx-point Siamese, will not eat anything except cat, and human food. Sometimes, she will Play with a plastic bag, but only because it makes noise when she pounces on it. I keep them well fed with good tasting food, It is believed that this helps to keep them from eating other things.

My oldest male Casey is absolutely CRAZY over plastic shopping bags. I did a little research and found out the reason why. The bags contain some kind of fish oil by-product and that is what attracts some cats to them. It can be very annoying and dangerous though. Especially if they get the bag caught around their neck and high-tail it around the room to try and lose the damn thing. I try to remember to put them away just for that reason. But Casey will never give up the chance to lick a bag when I first get home from shopping.

Beau and Felicia have never eaten plastic. I keep the plastic grocery bags hidden from them anyway.
