If so, how the heck do I find out how much they will charge for standard procedures during my hospital stay?
I've been trying to find out how much my hospital charges for standard things during delivery of my baby BEFORE hand (like, price per day in the hospital, shots for baby, pain meds, etc.) but so far no one will give me any answers. The last person I talked with said I need to get a "code" from a doctor for each procedure and call a certain person to have it looked up individually....huh?
A friend of mine recently had a baby (at a different hospital) and said they charged her for everything, including the "free" package of diapers they give you when you leave the hospital. Now, if I knew they charged for these kinds of things ahead of time I could request not to have them if they are unnecessary. We have insurance but we are still expected to pay 20% of the bill, so if I don't need it, I don't want it!
Is there anyway you know of to acquire billing information from a hospital before your stay? It seems like it should be easier....
Thanks for any input!!
