    Painting

Well we finally decided to paint the living room. To make matters worst we decided to not just slap on a simple coat of paint, no we have to make it complicated by using a new technique on the top on the wall, adding a chair rail and doing a different color on the bottom. Yes we are insane!! Of course this all has to be done before I can put my tree up.
We are using Behr paint from Home Depot.
First you put the base coat on, wait 24 hours then you mix the special glaze with the paint and using a special brush or sponge (we are using a Bellagio Faux Brush) apply it to the wall in random patterns. It’s a bit like sponge painting. It is suppose to look more like wallpaper when it is finished. Has anyone done this before?
Any advice would be truly appreciated. I have finished the base and am now waiting for the 24 hours to pass, am a bit intimated about this whole process and Steve is just too busy at work to help me.
I wanted the living room all done before Christmas but now of course time is running out and it’s all up to me to finish the project. Help

We did a faux finish in our studio. But we just did a simple sponge painting. People always think it's wallpaper when they see it. And we did it on the entire wall, not just the top. I used one size sponge and Bruce followed behind me with a different size sponge.
We also used Behr from Home Depot! I'm sure you'll do fine with it. And I hope you'll share pictures of it when you are finished.
The good thing about most of these faux techniques is that it's hard to mess them up.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

My ex and I did a faux treatment on my library walls. They look like suede actually. It was 3 steps to the process. Base coat of a light green color. 2nd layer was a glaze with a darker green, and you did a 3'x3' square at a time, using Xs and random like brush strokes. You let that dry, then you did the 3rd coat, another glaze in a darker green color yet, and same 3'x3' squares, and same kinds of strokes.

I really like it! It was worth the time and the aggravation (well, the boyfriend was the aggravation).

I'm attaching a pic that has the wall in the background so you can see it.

I detest painting and have a difficult time w/the smell so I hire it out or have my son do it when he comes home. Sorry that I can't be of any help; just wanted to say 'hang in there'. It'll all be worth it when it's finished. I have two colors and a chair rail in my dining room and it looks great and yours will, too.
    Blessings,
    Mary

I actually love painting. I find it very calming and relaxing (I know, I'm nuts!)

It sounds like its going to be lovely. I would love to see photos when it is done.
