Just had a reading with Nancy...*updated

It was about Skya, but it turned out to be a very interesting reading also about myself and my mom. I'll add more later, I didn't write much down though. Anyway, out of the blue, Smokey came through! How neat is that? I didn't say anything at all about him, she asked if I had a black dog, I thought she meant Sydney. She said that the dog was very, very, old, black, and curly...she came right out and said miniature poodle...of course I knew who that was. Smokey was insisting that he came through, he just wanted to tell my mom that he's there. She said it is a very strong presence that will come through like that, and that the bond he and my mom shared (and still do share) is very strong. I asked if there was a little gray schnauzer too but she didn't get anything on him...just Smokey coming through. I'm going to have to get a reading of them.

More about the reading...Skya is really an unstable puppy. She thinks this stems from being weaned too early, she thinks she was weaned at 4-5 weeks. This could very well be true, I don't know. I did learn later that she was born in Memphis, then moved to Houston, then to Utah, thats a lot of shuffling around for a young puppy so she may have been weaned early because of the moving. She said she is getting worse, which is true, she is. She is now anticipating everything which is causing more fear. She is afraid of everything...the TV...the toilet flushing...semi-loud music...and of course all strangers. I guess everything was so abrubt to her, she was tramatized by leaving her mom, and instead of adjusting she is just getting worse. It's not because of me, or the dogs (she said Nebo and Keva were very accepting of her) its just how she is dealing with her fear. She said what would normally desensitize a dog (taking her to work with me, normally the dog would get used to it), she just keeps getting more fearful. She said she is like an agoraphobic...afraid to leave the house. Which is true, she's comfortable and friendly with people she knows at home, but outside of the house everything is overwhelming and scary. I'm supposed to continue taking her out of the house, but just take baby steps...she said to always take Keva with her too because Keva and I are like her security blankets. Food is not a motivator for her (also true, she won't eat treats at all when nervous). I asked about getting her spayed (was planning on it when she's 6 months, she's 5 months now) and she said that would be too traumatic for her right now, being left at the vet, so I'm going to have to wait until she's older.

I had a question about Keva because every night she goes to a certain part of the yard and just lays there and looks out the gate. She said Keva is very connected to her ancestors and she is connecting with them when she does that. Which is interesting because my brother-in-law said the same thing about Keva a year or so ago, that she has a lot of ancestors that love and watch over her. She said Keva is very grounded and "of her own mind" (oh yeah, she's of her own mind for sure). She said Keva will be helpful in teaching Skya (she's already taught her well how to jump up on the couch! ) I asked about Nebo's eye thing (where the pupil sometimes gets smaller) because I've even talked to an animal eye specialist about it and they couldn't explain it...she couldn't sense anything about that, she said he seemed fine.

We also talked a lot about my mom and I and being Native American. We're not, but she swears that she feels we are full blooded Native American. She felt that the very first time I emailed her about Nebo several years ago. Everytime I talk to her she immediately asks if I'm the one she thinks is Native American. My mom does believe we have Native American in our ancestry somewhere...Nancy said it was like the bloodline was getting stronger, not weaker. But just with my mom and I, not my other siblings. She said I was very connected with nature, that I needed to live near nature and the mountains (very true...I don't know how to explain it really, but I'm not a religious person, but being in nature is sometimes like a religious experience to me). She also said that I should pursue photography and art...that it was in my energy, that I'm meant to do that, especially with nature and animals. She said I should go live in a cabin in the mountains. I'm all for that.

Oh another random thing, when Smokey was communicating to her he kept showing her a birdbath. She asked if we had one in our backyard, we don't, its in our front yard. She said he was insisting it was in our backyard, and that it was a memorial to a dog, that it was supposed to be in a backyard. Then I remembered where that birdbath came from. It was from my grandparents house, when my grandma moved and my brother bought the house, my mom took the birdbath and brought it to our house. It was in my grandma's backyard, and her dog, Pepper, was buried underneath it. My mom thinks we need to go take the birdbath back now!

    That is so interesting!

I suggest you take a moment and write down as much as you can remember, NOW. Add to it in the morning, with anything you forgot first time through.

You will appreciate having that to refer back to in the future; memory doesn't always do it, at least not for me!

Amy, that's so wonderful! How sweet of Smokey to watch over you guys.

I just spoke to Nancy myself tonight about Chipper. I can't sing her praises enough.

Nancy never ceases to amaze me! I'm thrilled you had such a lovely reading and that Smokey came through. I know your mom is excited and touched.

Nancy told me people sometimes come through. My nana kept interrupting, as she always does at any reading, so Nancy had to call back!

Can't wait fot the Skya update.

Just read the expanded version. Let me go pcik up my jaw from the floor!

Poor Skya. Would you consider any puppy classes for her, before she gets much bigger and has to be in with the big dogs? Sometimes being with those your own size / age helps you catch up in areas you are behind on. Just a thought, I don't know if that would be good or not.

She's been in a puppy class...she graduates tomorrow. The only dog in her class is a lab Nebo's size though, no small puppies.

Nancy is fantastic, she truly amazes me. I think that taking Skya places with Keva to show her that things aren't as scary as they seem may help. One of the reasons I adopted Taz was to show Ginger that the world is not as scary a place as she thinks it is. And it seems to have helped to some extent (she is willing to go for a walk even though it is dark when I get home from work now; she wouldn't do that before, but now she willingly follows Taz around). And yes, Ginger became more fearful in class as we went along. Oh, except for Agility, she loved agility, that may help Skya.

I agree with your Mom, if Smokey is that concerned about the birdbath I would take it back to your Uncle's yard, too.

That was an awesome reading Amy!!!
So glad Smokey came through, and those pics ....... darlin!

As for Skya, at least you know WHY she is like she is, and small baby steps to solve it sound like the deal. Luckily for Skya, she has a fantastic Mum and furpups to live with ...

Wow.... Nancy really picks up on a lot of crazy things! Smokey and the birdbath, in particular. That must have given you goosebumps.

I'm glad you got some possible insight into how Skya is feeling. She's very lucky to have you as an owner, and have you work with her.
