Just a few prayers for the kitties in the ER I saw.

While at the ER vet with Andy, I saw 3 kitties that had to be PTS.

One kitten was in the rain all day, and was very sick, also with a terrible leg injury. She was PTS.

The second two were both hit by cars, one an older kitty, and the other a baby kitten.. The older one passed while there, the kitten had to be PTS due to numerous internal injuries.

May the Lord bless their souls, and I hope they play happily at the RB.

It is so hard to visit the vets when a very ill pet is brought in. One day I was sitting there while a family brought in their great dane who was not able to walk those last few steps of his life. They had him on a big stretcher that was carried by several people. The woman was completely hysterical and my eyes filled up too. Another day I sat beside a woman and her two small children and listened to her explain to the children that their dog (looked like an american eskimo) was going to go live with God soon. I tell you it is hard hearing that kind of stuff. My hat is off to those of you who work at a vet's office and must deal with this every day. Katie I know that you realize after seeing those sick kitties, just how lucky Andy is and I bet you wanted to hug him just a little tighter.

Yes, it most definitely is tough to witness such things. To be injured and cold and wet, what a terrible life these cats endured. However, their suffering is now at an end and they'll never know anything but happiness, comfort and love again. RIP, sweet ones.
    Blessings,
    Mary

It is so difficult to have to make the "ultimate decision", especially when they are so young and sick. Shame on whoever owned these cats and allowed this to happen to them.

RIP sweet furbabies. Play hard at the Rainbow Bridge. You deserve to be free of pain.

Everyone tells me I should get into a line of work dealing with animals. Well, a vets office is out of the question. Years ago while waiting in the lobby a family came in to have their dog PTS. I cried right there.
More recently I went to pick up meds or something at my vet and heard a woman crying hysterically. The receptionist told me she just had to have her dog put down. I couldn't even talk. I had to step back and she handed me a tissue to wipe my eyes. Even now while I'm typing this my eyes are filling up.

RIP to the kitties in the ER. They are all free of pain now.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

    RIP little kitties.

I too, would never be able to work for a vet, just for this reason. Animal shelters (especially the kill variety), are out too. I just couldn't stand to see the misery and heartache day after day. I get emotional just reading a lot of the posts here also, even tho I have never met any of the PTers or their fur kids. I'm just a marshmallow!

Thank you all for praying for these kitties. It made me sick, and I wish I could have done something for them.

I worked as a vet tech assistant for a few years, and I must say, the good times FAR outweighed the bad. Alot of animals I took care of, watched them come in sick and disstressed, but they left happy and healthy. It made it SO worth it. About 99% of the animals that were sick and needed hourly care, I took home with me, just so I could spend time with them. That led to VERY tired days. But nothing feels as good as handing them back to the owners who cherish them

I just wish people would keep their cats inside. I dont see any good reason not too. So many needless deaths happen, just because people decide to open up their door. I wish people were more aware of the dangers.

Anyways, it was so sad, and I hope that the kitten that didnt have an owner, will look for me at the bridge. When I took Andy back the next night, I inquired about the little black kitten, and they told me that he needed PTS. I was going to offer to foster and then find him a home. Wish I could have gave him a chance.

    Thank you so much Michelle!

I cherish vet assistants such as you because when I have to leave one of my furkids over night, there's no sleep for me, I can tell ya. Just knowing that there's someone like you who cares enough to stay w/them means so much.

That is so sad! It's also a part of a vet's job I couldn't do...

May these little souls rest in peace.

    Rest in peace, little ones.
