McCain stumbles on advice from Palin

Some of us would like this answered too, John. Why so evasive?

    ETA: one blogger there said:
Why can't he just say that he picked her to win all of Hilary's old votes and that she is actually a terrible candidate for the Vice Presidency?!

McCain stumbles on advice from Palin

    Wed Oct 1, 4:36 PM

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain struggled Wednesday to respond to a reporter's question on whether he would ask for foreign policy advice from his running mate Sarah Palin.

"I've turned to her for advice many times in the past," McCain told a journalist from National Public Radio (NPR), without specifying on what subjects.

"I can't imagine turning to Senator (Barack) Obama or Senator (Joe) Biden because they've been wrong," McCain continued.

"They were wrong about Iraq. They were wrong about Russia ... Senator Obama has no experience whatsoever and has been wrong in the issues that he's been involved in," he said.

"But would you turn to Governor Palin?" insisted the reporter.

"I certainly wouldn't turn to them, and I've already have turned to Governor Palin, particularly on energy issues," McCain responded.

"I've appreciated her background and knowledge on that and many other issues," said McCain, without specifying which ones.

Trying a different tack, the reporter asked: "Does her energy qualification extend to international energy market?"

"Of course," said McCain, adding that Palin's qualifications extend "to a broad variety of issues, from her worldview of the threats that we face of radical Islamic extremism, to specific areas of the world. I'm very proud of her."

    What?

I cannot wait until this election is over. I am exhausted - thinking and re-thinking about what these candidates are trying to say.

It's more about what they are trying NOT to say. My only answer is "how's it been going so far?" Not so good I'd say. The GOP needs a kick in the pants to say the least!

Uh, John, how about answering the question that was asked to you? I hate when politicians (either side of the aisle) pull those shenanigans. Either answer the question, or man or woman up and fess up that you don't know!

I Think that all candidates should be fed scraps of paper, like the fortune cookie slips, with all the answers to question they will be asked, printed on them.

THat way, when they are asked a hard question they can pull the answer out, when they need it!

I couldn't agree more. Every time I hear one of these non-answers and especially when one is substituted with *talking points*, it makes me crazy. Actually I can respect someone not knowing and indicating how they would go about coming up with a solution, answer, or evalution. Not everything has to be on the tip of one's tongue. Thoughtful investigation and clarification of all the points at issue is more to the point of governing. Honesty is an important factor. We need to be able to believe in what our representatives are putting forth.

I really want to believe that there could be one candidate more honest than the other.

This makes me laugh because they are all liars. Bs to the W liars.

There was a question that JM asked BO about his experience and BO deftly sidestepped it by saying the Biden had the experience to bring to the table.

    Again,
A deflection on a serious question, but he said a lot in his answer.

He's not qualified, but he will not admit it. Typical politician.

He's more qualified than someone who was never even a senator claiming foreign policy "experience" because she can see Russia from her house.

You know what I find sad? Even if Palin cleans up tonight, she won't get credit for it. At least not from the media.

And so everyone feels better about the world?

We all are gonna die one day.

I'm sure John McCain feels confident turning to Sarah Palin for answers and advice regarding foreign policy questions and international energy concerns. After all, she can see Russia from her window!

Along that line.. At one time I lived in an apartment in Detroit that was right alongside the Detroit River, which is the INTERNATIONAL BOUNDARY between Michigan and Ontario. I COULD SEE WINDSOR FROM MY WINDOW!!!!!

So, all you sly Canucks out there, don't you think you can pull anything over on us Yanks.. I know JUST what you're up to!!!!!
