Since I'm kinda new here, meet Baby Shawnee

I've posted some recent pics of my dogs on this board lately, but I guess I feel like showing Shawnee as a baby. She was born in October 2006. My mom's co-worker had a female Border Collie then got pregnant somehow, and she lived near a German Shepherd breeding farm. One of the males got loose I guess...There were 5 pups -- 4 males, and 1 female. They were giving them away so I said I'll take the female. It was funny, when she brought the litter to my house Shawnee (the lone female) was picking on all of the males by jumping on them and biting them and stuff. She was quite the dominant pup at first. She's more friendly and submissive these days. Anyway, here are some pics of her back in 2006...

Nice shot of her here. We weren't sure exactly what her breed was at first. Everyone kept telling us she looked like a Rottweiler pup.

For the record, she's a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix

When we got Shawnee, within the same week our nextdoor neighbors got a chocolate lab puppy named "Tootsie." Shawnee and Tootsie instantly bonded. Here they are bobbing for nothing...

This is what Shawnee looks like today all full grown. She's the only dog I've ever raised from puppyhood all by myself basically. My other dogs were rescues -- Hector (Humane Society) and Tatum (Last Chance Rescue in Michigan)

Thank you for posting her puppy pictures!
Oh what a cute puppy she was! (then again... is there such a thing as a puppy that isn't cute? )

She's grown into a beautiful young lady!

Oh dear, Shawnee, mom is showing your BABY photos! Know what? You were CUTE! And now you are all grown up and a beautiful lady.

Easy to see the GSD, tricky to find the Border Collie!

She's sure got that Shepherd look - with extra black from the Border Collie side. Is she, given that breed mix, a herder? You know, some people will look at any black and tan pup and say "Rottweiler," but that's just silliness. She looked like a classic Shepherd pup from the start, those soft floppy ears and all!

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Shawnee told me to say that. And she also told me to say, yes, she is quite the herder. If only pack leader Zachary had his own herd to practice on...

Holy cow, Shawnee is SO beautiful! Of course, that isn't surprising, being that she's made up of two of the best breeds in the whole wide world. ; )

I love her flippy ears. I can totally see Border Collie... in her eyes, mostly. She must be crazy smart.
