What is a very healthy cat food?

I have tried Minion on Innova kitty food and Wysong, and the only thing he will eat well sofar is Nutro Natural Choice. Does anyone know of any cat foods that are highly nutritious and also palatable by kitties?

I have both of my dogs on a raw diet, and the bigger of my two dogs, Kersey, gets Innova mixed in with the raw. I do want the best for my pets, but I am not sure of the health benefits of Nutro cat food.

Does anyone have any recommendations on healthy kitty foods, other then what I have already tried, and foods that your kitties tend to like?

I would like some feedback if you could. For the time being, Minion will stay on Nutro Natural Choice simply because I don't want him starving himself.

    Thanks

As far as I know Nutro is a great cat food. I feed mine Science Diet and they really seem to like it. But I've also heard lots of good things about Nutro.
    I've been Defrosted!

Thanks for the great signature Kay!

    Leslie,
I am using the Pro Plan Salmon and Rice (made by Purina, but not available in the grocery store) for Butter and Mimi. Mimi eats very little dry food, but Butter LOVES it, and I believe it is very healthy for him. On occasion, Mimi indulges as well. But she mostly eats Fancy Feast......and at her age (13), who am I to force her to eat something she doesn't like or can't chew? She's the boss of this house!
My dogs have been switched from California Natural to Innova Senior because it was next to impossible to get the California Natural in Greenville. Since they are both made by the same company, I'm sure both are good foods.

I feed my cats Natural Choice Complete Care Weight Management formula by Nutro. I think this is a very good brand of food for cats and my cats like it too.

We feed Noah, Noel and Basil Nutro as well. It's healthy and is very good quality. We switched to Nutro Natural a few months ago, but noticed Noah was throwing up more often, so we switched back and they are all happy now.

This Nutro seems to be popular, does anyone know if we can buy it here in Europe? I'd love to try it out (well not ME, but the cats )

At the moment Casper and Kitty are on Hill's Science Plan Formulated Light diet food. We only had 2 different flavours here, chicken and tuna.

Good luck finding the right food for your darling!

I feed Nutro Natural kitten. I think it's a pretty good food and priced reasonably. They also get to split one can of wet kitten food once a day as a treat in addition to the dry food I leave out. When I can get out to Petsmart, I'll get the Nutro Max kitten canned food. But if I can't make it all the way out to Petsmart they get Iams canned kitten for their once a day treat.

Thanx. I did a search and I can see we can get it here in Belgium too, but it's way too far from us so I guess we will have to stick with Hill's!

    Food, food, food

I have been feed my three Hills Science Diet (prescription from the Vet) because Graemer and Miley have sensitive intestines. Gabe tolerates it. BUT in the last three weeks, I am trying to switch all three to a raw meat diet. Some of you may have read a few posts about it. I don't eat much meat myself, so it is pretty disgusting to have to touch all the parts of the chicken etc. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would give my progress a 5. I have read that it takes months to switch them over.

There is much information on the net about different diets for pets - including BARF....which stands for...ummmm....something, something, raw foods......... doesn't sound very tasty by its name!

SallyAnne, it's Bones and Raw Foods Diet as far as I know.
I admire you for going thru all that since you don't eat meat yourself.

Thank you everyone. I do feel better about his food now and I will keep him on it since he eats it well. I have actually tried adding a little bit of raw meat in his food, and he does not even like raw meat! The dogs are on a raw (BARF) diet, and they LOOOOOOVE their food with a passion! Neither one of them was very food driven, or at all excited about being fed until I started them on a raw diet. I thought Minion would practically do backflips to get his little feeties on raw meat, but he's not too keen on it Silly kitty

Anyway, thanks. I appreciate all the comments. I am glad that the food he's eating is healthy. I want him around for as long as possible

I like for Kylie to have either Nutro or Royal Canin. Tho right now due to SOF ("short of funds") she is finishing up a bag of Purina One Hairball formula. It looks like Minion is slightly longhaired ? So a hairball formula might be something you will want to check into. Have you tried The Purina Right bites Hairball control Treats? Kylie is slightly picky with her treats also and she would walk thru hot coals for those!! And also you can find at the pet store, but I found it at Big Lotz and stocked up. Stuff that looks like fish food. It is dried fish flakes, Kylie LOVES that too!
But don't get the dried fish. Kylie wouldn't touch them and Keegan vomited them! NASTY!! ugh

I really like the Royal Canin chain. They have several different kinds of food. Persian (pricey), indoor, slim, kitten, hairball, etc. Kylie is getting ready to start the indoor formula. It is designed to keep the smell down from the litter box, and reduce hairballs.
Kylie won't eat meat much either, she will eat shrimp, fish, and scallops, and a little turkey. But nothing else!! No tuna, no tuna juice. NO WAY!
Good Luck, if Minion likes what he is on, don't change a good thing, I guess!
