    Anyone have any meal suggestions?

It was 35 degrees C here yesterday. It might have been the heat, or it might be worse. Sasha threw up yesterday. Now you may recall that a bit ago I posted that she was not expected to make Christmas this year. She'll be 14 in 22 days. I am concerned cause it was like everything she ate for the last couple of days that had just been sitting in her tummy. She had a good night but just finished throwing up again, mostly saliva this time, not even any tummy bile. Her tummy is growling but so far all food I've tried she turns away from. Any suggestions of what might entice her? I know I'm going to lose her soon.

OH no - I know how hot it has been! It seems cooler today since the thunderstorms broke the heat.

Is she drinking water? Keeping her hydrated is the most important thing. I have heard dogs sweat through their paw pads, so a wipe down there with a cool wet cloth would help too - and wiping down areas of her body that would help cool her off. That might help restore her appetite.

As far as food - I don't know. You'll get an answer here, I know.

    She ATE!!!!

A little bit, but enough for now.

A combo of pork chops and chicken.

She's having a nap now, food has stayed down. And yes, she's drinking water.

I made some rice for when she wakes up. Will mix a bit of that with some chicken and see how it goes.

Perhaps it was just the heat.

    Good news!

I'm sure we are in for a few more toasty waves this summer...just keep the cloth-in-cold-water wipedown idea for future reference.

I'm glad she is eating. Don't forget baby food as an option for her. I guess at this point anything is worth trying. I've been in this situation more times than I like with cats and dogs.

Before the current thunderstorm, Sasha and I had a little walk. She did her business as normal, no issues. Have offered her favorite dog treats but she's not interested. So far she has kept the pork chops/chicken down so that's a good thing. She's napping again and not bothered by the thunderstorm, she can't hear it, or much else anymore.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Sasha just ate all of her supper and she's back to wanting her favorite treats. Must have just been the heat yesterday that made her feel unwell. Thank goodness.

    Great stuff.

Maybe she can't hear much at all - but she can feel your love and care!

I hope you are happy and well! Great that your Sasha is eating again!

Sorry I haven't gotten over here sooner. I have such a soft spot for that pretty Sasha. I would just like to second what Logan has already suggested. When my RB girl was refusing to eat, her vet recommend baby food and it was a real god send.

Sugar and Ozzy both refuse to eat in the heat; and we have the a/c on so the house is cool! They seem to know the weather and just can't be bothered with food.

I am glad to read Sasha is eating a bit again. If you boil the chicken breast (or any other piece of meat), then you can use the broth on the rice; added flavor. Just an idea.
