    Cammie ~ Possible stomatitis

Cammie returned to the vet today. A month after having 7 teeth extracted, her "breath of death" is back and gingivitis has already formed on her back teeth. The vet was shocked at how quickly it returned. She has lost 1 pound (and she didn't need to).

She's on 1 ml of Clindamycin for 14 days then we'll recheck. He suspects stomatitis. Bobcat did not take the news well. We both assured him that kitties can do well even if they have to have all their teeth removed. He worries about his babies.

Her temp was normal and she's not dehydrated. Will keep you posted.

I have been there with SEVERAL cats! Amber and Shilo now have no teeth and Bonnie is not far behind.

They do very well with no teeth, so if it comes to that just DO IT!! It is worth it.

Goodness, what's going on w/our cats lately? We're going to have a Gummer Clan pretty soon. Aw, it's ok. Teeth or no teeth, they get along fine and we love 'em no matter what, the little sweeties. I hope Cammie feels better soon, though.
    Blessings,
    Mary

Cammie had another checkup today. The antibiotics have helped but not completely stopped the inflamation in her back teeth. Her bad breath is gone. She has gained a little bit of weight.

We are to continue the antibiotics until they are gone. She was given a antinflamatory shot. Then we go back in 3 weeks for another checkup.

I'm glad to hear the meds were helping her. I'm dealing somewhat with the same issues with my FeFe. I'm hoping this pain meds I'm going to pick up tomorrow night will help her.

Hopefully the meds will help her and she'll receive a good check up in 3 weeks.
So how does the vet diagnose stomatitis any way?
