    Contact breeder

    Hi

I'm a new member of this forum. I've been searching lil over a year looking to find a mix breeder of either collie/golden retriever or collie/shepard. My dog (duke) passed away 2 yrs ago. I would like to own another mixed breed pup. Their tempament are the greatest. They're smart, easily trained and loyalty. If there's someone out there who breeds the kind i'm looking for, pls reply on this forum or contact me at [email protected]. Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.

You don't need a breeder to get a mixed breed puppy. Simply visit your local humane society or animal control to save a life and find a new puppy. Humane societies get all sorts or mixed breed and purebred dog of all ages. Anything you could want to find you'll more than likely find at your local shelter. A website for you to check out and look at puppies in your area looking for homes is petfinder.org

I agree with lute; the BEST way to find a mixed breed pup with a lovable personality is your local shelter Not only will you find a wonderful companion for your home, you will most likely be saving a life

And yes, I STRONGLY recommend browsing around on http://petfinder.org

    Good luck and happy hunting!

I'll be the third to tell you this! I got my mixed breed from a shelter with the help of a behaviorist to pick him out, and he truly is a great dog.

    Another voice of agreement.

Here's the thing: just because you get another mixed-breed, the same mix as you had, there is no guarantee that the temperament will be the same. None. That's simply how genetics work. You may end up with something similar, but you may end up with the exact opposite. The new dog's personality may swing to one breed or the other, or be a mix of both. There is no guarantee.

There is no guarantee even in purebreds. My boys are an example. They are litter-brothers, but have very different personalities. Cooper is more outgoing, while Manero is a typical Borzoi, and more reserved with strangers.

And here's another thing to consider: any breeder who is intentionally mixing breeds is not a good breeder. Period. There is no need to mix breeds intentionally, and there is no excuse for anyone to do it.

Please check your local shelters, rescue groups and Petfinder.org

You will save yourself a lot of money, and more importantly, you'll be saving a life and not supporting unethical breeding practices.

I love my mixed breed, but would never buy one. There are so many out there that need homes.

And also, I'd like to echo the previous sentiments - every dog has a different personality regardless of breed. I've owned numerous danes over the years and they've all had their own unique personalities.
