    Does anyone know...

I'm looking for some help, as much as I hate to ask for it.

Someone has dumped yet another animal in my neighborhood, and me being the sucker that I am, cannot stand by and see it suffer, get hit by a car, or killed by one of the many dogs that run free.

Within 10 days, I have had a dog dumped on me, and found a tiny kitten.

I am on unemployment which barely pays my bills and provides for my existing animals.

I've contacted numerous animal rescue agencies in my city/county for assistance, but I get turned away because they are
    1) Full
    2) Out of funds

I'm at my wit's end. I can't afford these animals, yet, I can't turn my back on them. Does anyone have any suggestions for who I could contact for assistance? I'm in NC. This kitten is going to need shots, flea medications, and deworming and I just can't do it myself.

I did so well recently. I managed to trap and tame two not so tame (but not feral) cats and their kittens and get them into rescue. I thought that would help with the number of kittens in our neighborhood, but now there is a whole new crop of them apparently.

I am working on getting the dog into a breed specific rescue, hopefully that will happen...or I will be in an even bigger pickle.

It just makes me so sad....that there are so many animals in need, and that I'm at my limit on what I can do to help.

I don't know a lot about Petfinder - but could you post something there asking for help/a new home for these babies?

I wonder if any of the rescues in your area, or SPCA/Humane Society, are trying to get a TNR program going. It won't solve your immediate problem - but has worked really well in places to lower the number of stray animals.

Maybe even a phone call to your congress member's office? Staff there are connected with just about EVERYTHING - and you could pitch for low-cost S&N and more funding for shelters.

I hope someone else here has a good idea! Bless you for helping these critters!

You might want to pop into some of your nearby vet clinics and ask the staff if they know of any clients who might be looking for a kitten. I only suggest that because it sounds like you have already checked out the shelters as an option. Some clinics have kittens and cats for adoption right there at their clinics and if you bring the little kitten with you, they might not be able to resist it and may take it in? This has happened a few times at the clinic I used to go to. As well, a staff member might take it. Vet staff tend to have quite the menagerie and a wee kitten might prove to be irresistable for one of them. Worth a try!
p.s. Don't forget to bring the kitten with you because seeing it will be more effective than 'hearing' a description of it.
