    Prayers for Sophie, please.

Sophie has a vet appt. on Tuesday afternoon (earliest I could get her in). Unfortunately this time it's more than just a routine manicure. Last night, I found a lump (about the size of a ping-pong ball) hiding behind her "armpit." She acts fine, eats good, and looks great but I'm still terrified, esp. since this is her first time to see the vet here (for something other than a manicure).

I have a copy of her old vet records, a copy of drugs that are ok for rabbits, and a biz. card from my old vet to take in. When it comes to dogs/cats I have complete trust in this vet (as he saved Clarice's life one time)--I just hope his "magic" extends to rabbits.

I hope & pray this lump is nothing serious.

It almost looks like a blue smile!

oh Dear Tonya and Ms. Sophie Bunny,
delilah and i will say a prayer for you both...glad that the lump doesn't seem to hurt her so far...this is a good sign!!!!

you know you could call your old vet(the one whos' card that you have) and have his office fax a copy of Ms.Sophie Bunnies' records to new vet....
    at least :
    a) the vet will have all records in front of him, when he examines her
    B) he may actually have time to familiarize himself (or his assistant) with the records,so he knows more on sophie bunny and won't waste time on other things
    c) you won't get charged for them double touching things like vaccines, worming, etc. that might have been done 2 months ago...

    Good Luck Dear Tonya,
Keep us updated...we'll be waiting to hear

I am so very sorry to hear about this problem and will keep you and Ms Sophie in my prayers!!! I hate it when I feel helpless so I understand.

Something to keep in mind, is that if the news is bad or you don't like what you hear, DO find another rabbit-specialist vet and get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion. While rabbit-specialist vets are rarer than hens teeth, I have found that they do not always agree on diagnosis and/or treatments.

Why? Some vets continue to stay on top of bunny health issues and go to bunny health conferences while others end their education at graduation. A consideration would be to take Sophie to a well-known vet school in your state.... for example here in Mich. Michigan State University has an excellent vet program and the instructors know all of the latest treatments and procedures. We have found it worth the time, money and effort.

I'm wondering if maybe Sophie has a abcess. They can sometimes be removed or drained and in other instances it's better to do nothing...depends on the site. We have several buns at the sanctuary that have been living with those things for years and they are otherwise healthy.

I do wish you the best of good luck. Casey sez "HEY!" to Ms. Sophie and sends her a nose twitch and her vey best thoughts.

Tonya, I can only imagine how very very worried you are about Sophie. I would be too!

My brother has an older German Shepherd. When I was at their home several months ago, I noticed these two lumps on his side. The next time I went to their home the lumps were now the size of golf balls. However "Jake" was acting just fine, eating, playing, all the usual stuff.

My brother took Jake in to the vet to have them removed and they turned out to be absolutely NOTHING! In the meantime, all of us thought the worst and worried ourselves sick.

I am going to pray real hard that this will be the outcome for Sophie too! The lump will be NOTHING!

    Hugs from Gini and Rascal
