    Survey: dog groups

    i got this from another Message board:
    what are your favorite dog breeds in each group? mine:

    Herding: border collie- australian shephard- sheltie
    Herding: beagle-whippet
    Non-sporting: dalmation
    Sporting: golden retriever- labrador
    Terrier: jack russell terrier- cairn terrier- west highland white terrier
    Toy: papillon
    Working: bernese mountian dog- doberman-husky- samoyed- german sheperd

    My AKC Favs

    Sporting--cocker spaniel , Irish Setter, Gordon Setter, all pointers
    Hounds-- black & tan coonhound (don't know if these breeds are in the AKC but... Trigg, Redbone, BlueTick, & Plott Hounds)
    Non-Sporting--keeshond, lhasa apso
    Working--boxer, great dane
    Terriers--skye terrier
    Toys--papillon
    Herding--GSD, Belgian Tervuren, (both) corgi, collies, border collies

    Here are my favorites

    Herding: German Shepherd Dog
    Hound Group: Greyhounds
    Non-sporting: French BullDog
    Sporting: Golden Retriever
    Terrier: Miniature Schnauzers
    Toy: Chihuahua
    Working: Great Dane

    I love mixed breeds. They fit in all Groups

    Herding: German Shepherd Dog

    DUH! I never even though about the "Shepherd" part of the GSD.

    And I surely never thought about the herding instinct.... Guess their wonderful uses as service dogs has become more well known than their past heritage!

    I love them all, but my favorites are the mutts, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers and English Bulldogs, whatever catagories they fit in!!

    The working group: Newfoundland

    The Terrier Group: American Staffordshire Terrier

    The Toy Group: Maltese

    The Non-Sporting Group: Keeshound, Chinese Shar-Pei, Poodle
    Dogs: Nova, Konnor and Sitka

    Working: SIBERIAN HUSKY, Malamute, Bernese Mountain Dog, Rottweiler
    Terriers: SCHNAUZER, West Highland Terrier, Australian Terrier, Jack Russel Terrier, Border Terrier
    Toy: PAPILLON, Pug, Poodle, Chihuahua
    Non-Sporting: DALMATIAN, Keeshond
    Herding: GERMAN SHEPARD, Australian Shepard, Corgi, Border Collie

    I don't know if I can remember what dogs are in what groups, but I'll give it a try...

    Sporting: Labroador Retriver, Golden Retriever, Vizsla, English Springer, Weimaraner
    Non-Sporting: Dalmation
    Toy: Chinese Crested
    Herding:Great Pyrenees, GSD, Australian Shepard
    Terrier:Airedale, Border
    Hounds: Beagle, Basset, Rhodesian
    Working: Boxer,Great Dane, Malamute

    Don't know the groups, but I like beagles, St. Bernards, hounds, and Boxers.

    But of course, mutts are best!
    My pets are usually pleased with what I do, because they are not inflected with the concept of what I SHOULD be doing. My time is owned by: Missie,Thor, and Trinity!

    Hmm okay

    Herding:Border Collies (that should be a no brainer ), GSD, Aussies, bearded collie
    Hounds:Beagle, Pharoh hounds, ibizan hound
    Sporting:NSDTR, Labs, Goldens,Portuguese water dog, Brittany spaniel, cocker spaniel
    terrior:Staffordshire bull terrier, JRT, smooth fox terrier
    Toy:Papillion. that's about it for that group not a big toy dog fan
    non-sporting: dalmations
    Working:Husky, malamute, samyoed

    there are others but I can't think right now and of course you have to add mutts I love mutts.

    Actually I am kind of wish washy, and I probably
    would put a lot more on my list. : )

    This is a toughie!

    I'll try to stick to no more than three from each group -

    Sporting - Golden retrievers, Labs, Cocker spaniels
    Hounds - Beagles, Bassets
    Working - Bernese Mountain Dogs, St. Bernards
    Terriers - West Highlands, Min. Schnauzers, Cairns
    Toy - Toy Poodles, Pugs, Yorkies, Maltese (oops! sorry there's 4!)
    Non-Sporting - Standard Poodles , Miniature Poodles, American Eskimos
    Herding - GSDs, Border Collies, Collies
