    Puppies and glass

Hi everyone. Well, my puppy, Belle, got into a candle while I was in the shower a couple minutes ago. I don't know if she swallowed any glass at all, and I don't know if she swallowed any candle, either, but I was wondering if I should get her to the vet, or just wait and see if it passes through her system. Please reply here, or email me at [email protected] Thanks!

Always assume puppy ate something. They inspect/speak with their mouths.

Watch her for her for a few hours. Check for any change in behaviour, bleeding from mouth and pooter. When she goes potty, check her stools (best way: If you have clear plastic sandwich bags, place poop in one, seal and then smush to view the contents). I know.....EWWW GROSS!

Call your vet to give them a heads up and see if you can give her a little pepto to coat her stomach just in case she did.

Until then, there really isn't much you can do. If you take her to the vet, the vet will just perform an X-ray, look at a stool sample, check her mouth, and charge you. Same exact thing you are doing now.

    Keep us posted please.

Well, she isn't showing any bleeding at all. I think she's alright, but I am still going to keep checking her, and I'll tell you as soon as I am sure she's all right. Thanks for the advice!!!

Good luck! I know how terribly worried you must be.

Smokey and P.C. both got into some glass a few weeks ago. Don't know where; we scoured the yard and picked up everything but didn't see any.
P.C. cut his foot. A little later Smokey threw up and when I was cleaning I saw a piece of glass in it. Then, last week when I was picking up poo, I saw a piece in some poo, too.

But there was no bleeding or anything.

    Just my experience here...

Hope your pup is ok. I'm not sure what to tell you, other then to watch her really closely.

Puppies eat EVERYTHING. I've found 3 earplugs in Nebo's poop (I don't know WHERE he is getting them...) A few days ago he grabbed a sponge out of the bathtub, and before I could grab him, he took a large bite and swallowed it. We found it in his poo the next morning. Yesterday my brother was laying on his bed reading a book. Nebo rushed in to say hello, and before my bro could say hello back, Nebo had literally eaten half of his bookmark, lol.

Oh, and I guess I'll throw in a little question too. Nebo managed to get the bottle of puppy trainer (I accidentally left it on top of his dog house....a very tall dog house..in the middle...dunno how he got it). When I discovered he had it, he'd chewed the spray top off, and put a few holes in the bottle. It appeared that most of the stuff was still in the bottle.........I think he'd just been rolling it around (he STUNK, I had to actually give him a bath for the first time)....my mom was paranoid....I really don't think he had much, just a few licks.....do you think it could hurt him? This was on Thursday, and he's been acting ok...
