Ozzy, foster bichon, goes in tomorrow morning to have the lump removed from the under side of his upper eye lid. It doesn't "seem" to bother him, he doesn't rub it or anything. But it looks HUGE and of course it must be irritiating the eye. This has been put off for a few weeks as Ozzy was just "goosey" when he first arrived here. Anyone who touched him, he yowled, yelped and basically sounded like he was being tortured.So we have been working on getting him used to pettings. He has even made trips to the vet with other pets, just to get him used to the office, the smells, let the folks touch him. Well, he seems to be settled so we will try it tomorrow. This "should" be an easy cauterize surgery, with a local. but if he goes banshee wild, we will have to reschedule with general anesthesia. As he has an age related heart murmur, he will need an ultra sound prior to that. So keeping paws crossed that he calms down enough for this to be done with a local and all finished tomorrow.
Lacey has some type of "mass" on her left side. Does not bother her in the least. It is confined to the skin (not connected to muscle), about 2 mm in size. Had a vet check it out today. Definitely not a fatty tissue, and not likely to be an injection reaction as it isn't the correct shape. Sigh. Vet recommended having it removed, although I could wait and see how fast it grows. Thing is, it was NOT there in June when we adopted her. And I KNOW it has grown in the past 2 weeks. The vet did not see any point in aspirating it as that won't tell us much we don't already know. (If it was fatty tissue, aspirating would confirm and then surgery would not be needed.) So I need to get this scheduled. It will ahve to be general anesthesia. She already had her teeth cleaned and all so she doesn't need any other work done.
